THURSDAY 7 JANUARY --> (Cont. from 1/6) [1/6] 1971 7th day - 358 days to come
Called Fabio Coen. Fay said he was in conference & would call back, probably tomorrow.
Wrote to Steve Palins about EXTINCTION (see 1/5).
Wrote to Judy Ann Bennett. (See 1/5)
Called Claude and made finally arrangements to go there tomorrow.
When talking to Marvin Katz I asked if anything new came to him in the way of games & puzzles. Lakeside sent a puzzle called SCREW LOOSE. It consists of a net to be screwed on to a bolt shaft. It is set up like a maze with ups & downs to accomplish this. (Rough idea.)
--> (Thursday)<-- [1/7]
Wrote to Lech Pijanowski, copying his last short "strange" letter. Wrote to Haar Hoolim.
Called Jack Davis. Told him that the repro he rcd. was probably from Marvin Katz, not from GRIT. He real- ized that that was true. Probably the tear sheets from GRIT will still come. I told him about the interview with Bob Abel. It's O.K. for me to tell Bob the names EXECUTIVE DECISION & SLEUTH. Called Bob Abel and told him about the two games. He said he was pretty sure that there had been a game SLEUTH a few years ago. He said that he'd look it up when he gets a chance. I asked if I could get a chance to look thru his notes, but he wouldn't let me. (The res- taurant on Monday was Le Directoire.) Called Carl Eisenberg & he called back. I asked how things were going with MANHATTAN MADNESS. He is having problems, but he still wants the rules by the beginning of next week. I'll call him Monday to arrange a date to bring them to him.
Fabio called. Spoke about things in general. Asked him if he knew how AGOG was doing. He'll have Fay check & call me. I reminder him about his suggestion of my doing a book on children's puzzles. He'd really like it. Wanted to arranged a lunch meeting but I wanted to catch up first. Maybe in a month or so. Forgot to ask him the question Coffey asked me (cont. on 1/4)
