Though of some changes in <u>PLANES</u> and tried a game with BB. Instead of having a choice of 3 different tiles on a turn, each player has 2 tiles - one closer to him and the other behind it. The closer one is the one he will play on his turn. The further one is for the next turn. As one is played a new one is placed behind, etc. [diagram to left of text] <br> | SUNDAY 27 DECEMBER 1970 <br> | ||

Players place their tile anywhere they wish, and more than 5 tiles in a plane is permissible. BB thought that if there were more than 5 tiles in a plane, they would all be taken off together. I didn't play it that way, but later realized it would probably be better that way, but later realized it would probably be better that way. When taking a trick there have to be at least 5 tiles in a plane; but if there are more (up to a maximum, of course, of 9) all are taken if the trick is taken in that plane. <br> | BB thought that if there were more than 5 tiles in a plane, they would all <s>go of</s> be taken off together. Another possibility is to allow, once all the tiles have been played to the board, the taking of tricks with less than 5 until all tiles have been removed. In the interest of simplifying the instructions decided to make a trick total of 10 or 20 a zero rather than a 10. | Another possibility is to allow, once all the tiles have been played to the board, the taking of tricks with less than 5 until all tiles have been removed.
