FRIDAY 30 OCTOBER 1970

303rd day - 62 days to come

Felicia called. Still didn't have report from 3M on my royalties, Hans got a little more than the last quarter ($64). She wondered if she should call Bill Caruson but I said to wait till the middle of next week, since I should get the check by then.
She had a carbon of a letter to me from Jim Kraus (which arrived later). He suggests that I think of an idea for a GAME played on 3 dimensions with cards to fit into the Gamette box.
Steve Barkoczy after receiving the contract for TRIP felt that it was so good and he didn't want to be pushed around by the big companies and he wanted more than the $250 advance. Felicia called and Bob Edwards wasn't in. She spoke to Jim Goldsbury and he answered in one word "No." Felicia and Steve are returning the checks. The contract for TRIAGO still stands, tho Felicia thinks she'll drop Steve.
I told Felicia that I doubted whether X would come out with TRIAGO and INDIAN CHESS at the same time and she agreed that they might be over-optioning with the idea of choosing later.
[crossout] She got the copy of BYZANTIUM from the "Rolling Front" people but she has other things that she has to do with it and can't give it to me.

Later Felicia called again. She asked if I knew the list price of EXTINCTION, for her report to X. I offered to call "Stamford" and check but she said she would. I asked her to check whether they put out other games. (They didn't.) ($11.95)
She got a copy of BYZANTIUM from the Roths next door and I arranged to have BB pick it up.
Felicia had an "F.A.O. Schwartz" promotion sheet [crossout] for a puzzle called TANTRUM (a jig-saw puzzle without edges or design, or top & bottom to the pcs.; 40 translucent pieces). [Filed in 1970 Ad Clips.]

Rcd. a catalog sheet and letter offering me a sample at wholesale price from "Star Products" of their game GYRATION. A [crossout] top is manipulated across a field that can be tilted, with object of knocking marbles off some pedestals and avoiding others. [Filed in 1970 Ad Clips.]

Rcd. "Staff Newsletter No. 5" from S&T, signed by Al Nofi. He added that he needed my column for #23 & #24. I already sent Jim #23 (THE STOCK MARKET GAME, etc.) called the skunk works in the evening but Jim had left already and Al was out of town.
My press pass, good till 1/1/71, was also sent.

Started letter to Karen Kelley of 3M in answer to hers
