Rcd. a pleasant short letter from Michael Dummett. He is going to Washington and should have something inter- esting to report when he gets back.

Felicia called. X is sending an option contract for FITTING & PROPER, tho having it ready for May still presents somewhat of a problem. Felicia said we should be a little flexible.
They are not doing anything with WHAT'S IT WORTH TO YOU? at present since games for a large number of players are low on their priority list at present.
2 hand strategy games are very high on their priority list.
Steve Barkoczy is so angry with X about their handling of his 8 cube PUZZLEs that he is considering refusing to let them have TRIP and TRIAGO.
Bob Edwards sends his good wishes for my recovery from the operation.

BB to BOOK WORLD and picked up the copy of EXTINCTION. She didn't meet Eve Auchincloss there. She brought the game to the hospital for me.

Rcd. a copy of 3M's THINKING MAN'S BASKETBALL with a note from Jim Kraus (why not Keith?) asking for my comments on the rules.

BB told me that she & Dale decided they didn't like the letter I wrote to Tom Atwater on 10/18, and she didn't send it. I was annoyed.

When 5 cards are placed in any one of the 9 planes they constitute a "trick" and are removed. When the deck is exhausted previous tricks are reshuffled to form a new deck.
The winner of a "trick" is determined by the color with the highest number of spots. Tying colors are eliminated. And if all colors are eliminated the player completing the trick wins it. The value of a trick is determined by adding the spots of the 5 cards. 10 is the highest possible score. If the cards add to 11, or 21, the score is 1. Etc. Play to a score, such as 100.
From 2 to 6 can play. With 2, each gets 3 colors (but each is counted separately to get the winner of a trick). With 3, each gets 2 colors. With 4, each gets 1 color and the other 2 colors do not enter into a determination of the winner of the trick, but do count in the value of the trick. When 4
