THURSDAY 1 OCTOBER 1970

Missouri Day (Mo.)
Jewish New Year - Rosh Hashana 274th day - 91 days to come

Rcd. a letter from Henry Lamb. He rcd. AIRLINE and he feels that it has merit. He will be seeing Tom Atwater next week.

At Cross County "Wanamaker's" saw (I belive) 4 of the Gamettes, but not VENTURE or MONAD. They did have ACQUIRE and AGOG.
Saw EXECUTIVE PICK UP (Benjor). The same as PICK UP STICKS except that the sticks are about 1/4" square wood with fancy Indian style decorations. There are also wooden betting chips. Play is the same except that the player whose turn it is can place a bet as to how many sticks he will pick up, with any player(s) who is willing to ar- range a bet with him.
Checked the price of THE CITIES GAME - $7.
Saw another game DON'T BUG ME which seemed to be based on betting - in a humorous vein - but didn't [crossout] look at it.

Finished the new deck for SLEUTH.

Called Tom Atwater just after 11 (not in before).
Told him of my letter from Henry Lamb. In his phone conversation with Henry Henry sounded as if he was pretty definitely going to use TRANSFORMATION and AIRLINE.
They are also going to use Alex' TOUR, but don't like the name. There is also a good chance for MAD MATE.
Tom will be in Minneapolis-St. Paul to see. Hank Simmons, Henry Lamb, and 3M. He is leaving Monday morning.
I described TANGLED WEB to him and he definitely wanted to show it to both Simmons & Lamb. I'm to send it to Tom c/o [bracket] H.Y. Simmons

He will talk to Lamb again about the mix-up on my 2 box jackets. We both doubt that anything will be done before this run is sold out. Under Alex's prodding they are fixing up CASTILLE, not quite as Alex wants it, but much better than the original.
Tom has a copy of Alex' game published in Japan for me, when we get together, [crossout] SPOTS. I asked and Tom said he hasn't been able to place ROUND THE CLOCK. We both agree it is one of the Alex' best.
Tom hasn't had the time to really look at HAVING A WONDERFUL TIME. I'll hold up on it for awhile.
We discussed "Parker" and the busy direction in which they are moving. Tom doesn't think much of Bill Dohrman & thinks he won't last long. A new man, Mike MacCarthy, now seems to be in charge of adult games and Tom thinks he is good.
