SATURDAY 19 SEPTEMBER 1970

Ember Day 262nd day - 103 days to come

Working on SWORD IN THE STONE. Made the casing and 3 of the swords. Started making errors and decided to wait with finishing the swords.

Brought an autographed copy of AGOG to the "sternbergs", for a Weir meeting.
Someone mentioned that they had heard me mentioned on the Fitzgerald's program (WOR) in connection with the "Hallmark" exhibit.
Brought SMOG along and stated playing it. Handling the smoke plumes was such a hassle that everyone, except SI who saw some of the strategy behind it, wanted to quit. I think the idea is OK, but the plumes are impractical. In- stead the effect can be measured without using a plume and partially and completely abated smokestacks can be noted with colored rings.

Tom Nelson sent me a copy of the picture of me demon- strating ODD OR EVEN, with TEMPO in foreground. He is "peddling" it to T&N and the house organs at "Stancraft" and "Brown & Bigelow."
He is trying to interest radio hosts in me and Hank Simmons as a team. Wants a recap of radio & TV Shows I have been on in the New York Area.

(cont. from 9/20) [9/22]

Rcd. a letter from Michael Dummett. He is an Englishman doing work at Princeton. He is a buff on the history of card games. Sent me a long discussion of cards as mentioned in AGOG. Would like to get together and discuss card games.

At Felicia's she told me that S&R had told her that the sales of all their games were soft, including BALI and SCRABBLE.
BALI is mentioned in the book "The Sensuous Woman" and Felicia is going after the S&R publicity people to get with it.
In Felicia's call to Bill Caruson she built up TORTS-THE GAME OF LAWSUITS. He said they were just about to sign a contract on another law GAME. They'll hold off till they see Gary's.

During afternoon to "Childcraft" and bought two more peg boards. Saw Claude's WATCH still there. Saw a game THINK (Skor-More, I believe) which is a simple NIM game using beads on 3 wires. Bought the Sept. SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN.
