Bob Hallowell (cont.) Showed him TANGLED WEB. He liked it, but less than EXCALIBUR. He is holding it until next week to see how his secretary does with it. Showed him SPECTRUM but he is not interested in anything using a board at least for the present. Bob took me to lunch. I mentioned that I had an agent. He asked if she had any other puzzles. I told him I'd have to check (with Phil Orbanes - I had in mind) before having them get together.
To Felicia. Signed the ANOTHER contract and got the check, which I cashed at United Mutual. Told her that I saw a manufacturer in connection with a puzzle that I am finishing up for 2 other people (Phil & Jim). Told her that he might be interested in look- ing at some of her other puzzles, but that I would have to check with the others before telling her. She under- stood that I had to protect their confidences. She asked if it was Schisgal and I, of course, said "No." Felicia had the instructions for two of Gini Scott's games that I hadn't seen. INTERSECTION:- There are square markers which are placed in a circle on the floor, one for each player at which he starts. Each is given a card (from a deck) which tells them what to do when they get there- different activities depending on whether they are alone, with a member of the same sex, or one of the opposite sex. Felicia asked my opinion and I said it could be good if the activity cards are good (They weren't sent). FORUM:- A series of debates, with topics given and some rules for voting and for timing. (Just glanced at it but it seemed like a bore.) Gary Sherbell brought Felicia a new board and set of rules for TORTS - THE GAME OF LAWSUITS. The board is now pentagonal with the values $10,000, $15,000, $20,000, $25,000, & $30,000. The court charges are now $10,000. The corner spaces, as well as allowing movement to any "Tort," allows a player, if he wishes, to throw in their full 14 cards and take a new hand. The extra cards for throw of a 7 are reduced to 2 and the extra cards for play of an "Appeal" card are eliminated. Felicia and I felt that he should stop fooling with a good game.
Back to Bob Hallowell and then with him & his secretary to his plastic molder (Robinson Plastics) in Jersey. Had a conference with Jerry, the president, and Bruce, the young genius. Decided on doing EXCALIBUR as a hollow cube with a stone finish. They also looked at TANGLED WEB and it didn't present any insurmountable problems. (cont. on 9/13)
