and 400.
There is a supply of various kinds of burglar's tools. Players
get an assortment at the beginning and get others by
use of cards. Some cards allow stealing of tools form
other players; also can be stolen when the pool is ex-
hausted.
To get past an obstacle a tool must be placed in that
space on the board. Once placed it stays there unless
moved by a card. To get from one level to another a
ladder must be used. This, however, is removed as soon as
it is used.
In a turn, a player throws two dice and moves his
piece orthogonally, making as many turns as de-
sired. Placing a tool takes one count, or a ladder also.
(How did the cards work?)
When a player gets a jewel he must get it to his
hideout in order to score it. If landed upon by
another player (exact count?) it can be stolen.
(Fairly rough idea.)
At "Parker" also saw BUCKSHOT. There is a board as shown,
[diagram of octagon shape, with square inside. Each side of square has two sets of two hashmarks. Circle in center.]
the heavy line representing a fence with
openings. The player up has a block he
uses for pushing a puck. Each of the
others have a defensive pcs. which can
block one, but not both, of their openings.
There is a timer which consists of a slender
upright rod. A circular pcs. with a hole
a little larger than the rod works its way
down in about 20 seconds. The player up tries to get
the puck into as many holes as possible in this time, collecting
1/2 a buck from the player for each. He continues playing until
another player announces that the timer is down. If a player
announces prematurely the player up gets another turn.
If the puck goes into the hole in the center of the board
the player's turn ends.
In a book of adult games saw CON-TAC-TIX which is
HEX played on a board 11 on a side. (Danish import.)
