170th day - 195 days to come
Called Brian Blake. Not in, & didn't call back. This was after I had further ideas about the Harry Lorayne memory GAME. The boards are in 6x6 configurations, with six items on each and 30 holes. A set up is made by nesting them at random until no holes appear. Then they are faced up and the players study them as long as they wish until one player decides to place the cover in place. He then opens a window at a time starting at an edge and working along a line. He can stop at any time and score for what he has correct. If he makes a mistake he scores nothing for that turn. The first line scores 1 point for each square identified. The second line 2 each. 3rd - 3. Etc. A completely identified line is marked so it can't be used again. For a series of faces to identify a different cover is used. The face is exposed but the name is covered, with flaps to un- cover it as it is identified.
Sent my old press card to Jim Dunnigan.
Rcd. June issues of TOYS & NOVELTIES and PLAYTHINGS. Nothing of interest.
Rcd. August selection of GAME OF THE MONTH CLUB (N.J.). It is TUF. They are also offering DIPLOMACY, BLACKS & WHITES, OPINION POLL, PENTAGON, and others.
Rcd. another letter from "William W. Steel", in answer to mine to him.
Claude called and we had a long, general conversation.
Alan Levison (see 1/27) called before I got hom. I called him back at CY 9-8169. Told him I wasn't in England long enough to look for 007 UNDERWATER BATTLE. If I do find it in the future I'll let him know.
