TUESDAY 16 JUNE | |||
1970 167th day - 198 days to come | |||
---- | |||
<u>Felicia</u> called. She has been getting almost daily calls and letters | |||
from X. Some of the info:- | |||
They are sending me option contracts (with the usual $250 advance) | |||
for <u>WINDOW PAINS</u> and <u>THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS</u>. | |||
The following games have passed the 2nd screening and they are | |||
keeping them for further study:- <u>DIGIT</u>, <u>SPELLBINDER</u>, <u>TRIP</u>, <u>CUBITS</u>, | |||
<u>PENTHOUSE</u>, <u>WHAT'S IT WORTH TO YOU?</u>, <u>ANOTHER</u>, <u>COUNTER INTELLIGENCE</u>. | |||
They asked about the contract with "3M" and she told them that | |||
only <u>Will Erickson</u> has liked it. I pointed out that they had said that they | |||
already had a word game (and it is really 2). She was quite nasty | |||
and said that if I wanted to handle the business she'll stop. Later | |||
she came out with what was bothering her. Someone, and she | |||
wouldn't say who, had told her that Bernice thinks she takes too | |||
big a cut. I assured her it wasn't so and she said that after | |||
receiving our card from Switzerland she felt better. | |||
Went there at lunchtime and talked everything out. She | |||
agrees that when I am approached by someone to make up specific | |||
games, as with "Stancraft," there is no reason why she | |||
should object. I repeated my offer of 10% on all games I place | |||
myself, without another agent. And, of course, there is no question | |||
about her 25% on the things she sells. It was a good discussion | |||
that cleared the air. | |||
Further from X. <u>DATA</u>, <u>DYNAMITE</u>, <u>MARLBORO COUNTRY</u>, <u>FACTOR</u>, | |||
<u>UGLY CUBES</u>, and <u>COMBAT PATROL</u> are coming back. | |||
<u>Bob Edwards</u> told her in a letter that when X finally decides | |||
to go into games, she will be the first to know. | |||
X wants to see <u>PITFALL</u> and <u>QUEST</u> again. The former | |||
is with <u>IMPACT</u> and they want to hold on to it. The inventor | |||
of the latter is now in California. | |||
They want to see <u>LIVE WIRE</u> again but with new rules. | |||
She is sure that <u>Rudy Lopez</u> would split with me to have me | |||
write them. I suggested 25% and she said 50%, which I | |||
think is excessive. | |||
X is also interested in <u>INDIAN CHESS</u> with new | |||
rules. She'll check with its inventor to see if he'd be interested | |||
in my doing them for a piece of the royalties. | |||
She heard that on 7/21 X was going to have a big | |||
press party concerning games. She wrote to <u>Jim Goldsberry</u> | |||
telling him that her spies had found about about this party, | |||
and that I should be invited since I know about games | |||
than anyone. | |||
X finally found Connor's original model for <u>RUSTLERS</u> | |||
and are returning it. | |||
She was waiting for <u>Marge Naramore</u> to bring her copies of | |||
<u>DIRTY WATER</u> and <u>SMOG</u>. X wants to see the latter but she'll | |||
give me the former. | |||
<u>Felicia</u> had a letter from <u>Jim Kraus</u> dated June 5, 1970 which went in | |||
part:- | |||
<u>SEARCH</u>:- In your May 28th letter, you mentioned that I would send | |||
(cont. on 6/15) |
