5/10 5/9 MONDAY 18 MAY Monday in Whitsun Week 1970 138th day - 227 days to come
To Felicia's. She told me that Tom Mason of Whitman had set up a date for next Tuesday at 11 to discuss FOCUS and take us out to lunch. Returned the book GAMES TO IMPROVE YOUR CHILD'S ENGLISH to [crossed out] Felicia. Also gave Felicia the address of Hobitt Games (see 5/13). Brought her the rules for TRIP and also DIGIT and the rough set of FREE FORM. Brought a copy of AGOG which I later gave to Bob Edwards, who was there when I came. Bob Edwards went over their various classifications:- They are looking for-
- BRIDGE & other card games. - Trick taking games with non-standard cards, with or without other gimmicks.
- Social games. 1) Traditional types with individual boards. They already have TRIPLE CROSS and DEDUCTION. They are looking at LEXICOIN which is based on making definitions of words. 2) Occult, Mysticism, or Psychology - must tell the player some-thing about himself. They already have PERCEPTION. 3) Ice-Breakers. Told him about the business version of CINEMA and he'd like to see it. They are testing WHAT'S IT WORTH TO YOU?
- Manipulation type. They like TOTTER & THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS. (Seems like the wrong classification to me.)
- Puzzles. WINDOW PAINS being tested. (The 2 people who didn't like it were not puzzle fans and Bob wants to give it a fair chance.)
- Game chests. Standard games without royalties.
- Traditional games played sitting around a table. They already have RED LETTER and SHAPE AND SHATTER.
