SUNDAY 22 MARCH
Palm Sunday 1970 81st day - 284 days to come
Spent half the day on WINDOW PAINS and still didn't get it solved.
Wrote the introduction to INVASION as my next column for S & T.
Drew up a new sheet of clue pads for SEARCH.
Looking up DATA and saw that it had bene sent to X under the
name DATA PROCESSING. It was rejected although Dan Drake
and Rollie Coleman had fought for it.
(cont. from 3/23) [3/23]
are "all purpose." They can replace any personnel but are counted
as 6 away.
6 "Ad Agencies." One, or two can be added to an organization. Each
one added makes up 3 of the [crossed out] total divergence from the
chosen number.
6 "Assistants." These are used with a personnel card. Brings
the personnel to within 1 of perfection.
There are no cards for setting up a company. Any player can
collect the eight necessary personnel cards. 13 number discs are
located in a central place. When a player completes an organiz-
ation he chooses one of the remaining discs and places it on
his organization.
An organization make $60,000,000 profit minus $1,000,000 for
each unit in the total divergence.
Had a new approach for working out the WINDOW PAINS cards.
Took one and set it up so that it could not possibly fit on 9 of
the cards and then worked backwards setting up a situation
in which it would fit. In evening set that up, but tried also
to work out a false trail where this card would be the first
placed. Trying all combinations from this start to see if
any would lead to a solution. So far no, but have to continue
with a lot more.
Called Felicia. X wants to see GO SEE again. She'll see about getting
it back from Impact. I'll bring it, ANOTHER, and the puzzle
rules to her at lunch tomorrow.
