FRIDAY 20 MARCH 1970 79th day - 286 days to come

Call from Felicia. She was contacted by Jim Goldsberry, Arnold Shapiro's superior at X and she talked to him for about an hour. The game program is now number one there. They want to see TOTTER again. [crossed out] Felicia didn't remember whether they had seen DATA or not and Jim didn't recollect seeing it, although he remembered just about everything. He wants it sent. They want something on BRIDGE. I thought they meant something like AUTOBRIDGE but Felicia insisted they want a new bidding system so that players will play "Hallmark" instead of "Goren." I said I wasn't competent to come up with a new bidding system. They want something that can be put out in continuing new editions, like PASSWORD. They want some action games, also a scavenger GAME (hunt?), also games that can be played without sitting around a table. I asked if they had rcd. WHAT'S IT WORTH TO YOU? yet. Felicia will check next time she talks to them. They have done very well with puzzles and would like more. I suggested THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS and Felicia said she'd get it back from IMPACT. They want some real, real think games. Nothing with dice. Felicia said that Ralph Miller of General Mills, who she saw yesterday, has a great deal of power and from now on she'll send things to him instead of directly to Parker.

Called Jim Dunnigan and told him that I would not be able to show some of the things I had intended to to Bob Hallowell since I am committed to my agent and she wants to show them elsewhere. Jim said it will probably be at least 6 months before Hallowell will start doing anything and I certainly should take advantage of any opportunities in the meantime. Phil Orbanes came in while we were talking and he agreed with Jim. When we do get together we'll discuss general ideas and I'll have plenty of time to work them up.
