MONDAY 9 MARCH 1970 68th day - 297 days to come
BB went to Dover to buy the 4 books on logic that Lech Pijanowski requested. She paid the postage and they mailed the books. (Total cost $7.90.)
(cont. from 3/8) [3/3]
It consists of 3 dice, one inside the other, the outer two being transparant. Object being to shake them up and then man- euver them so that all three are oriented in the same direction. (He had one of them to opposite hand.) Felicia wanted to give Jake a present of AGOG and I brought it with me. Felicia wanted to pay me the wholesale but since I got full price from Whitman I suggested her not paying me and she agreed.
Met Frank Armbruster at "Gary & Reidel." While walking to subway KRYPTO came up. Frank is now the owner of this (or is he giving royalties?). He has been successful in getting it into schools.) He has been teaching BOWLING SOLITAIRE using the Krypto cards, and asked if I minded. I said it was fine, in fact he can print the rules if he wants, preferably mentioning that it is from AGOG. He started talking on the subway about the idea of a solitaire CHESS (off the top of his head). I suggested the title SOLO CHESS. What we were kicking around was having cards with the various chess pieces and some way of having them tied in with the board. We'll think about it and discuss our progress when he comes to New York for the stationery show. He gave me three puzzles:- BALI-BUTTONS, MADAGASCAR MADNESS, LOONY LOOPS. (Also gave three puzzle rings to the family.) The first two puzzles are from his phony myths series and the third was done by someone else. He has taken over distribution. After supper to Martin Gardner. Frank and Martin hit it off well. Discussed a lot of things in general and not much About THE TOWER GAME, outside of confirming that it is O.K. with Martin for Frank to do it. Frank is going to make up some sets of the 30 dice and will send me one to play around with. Martin gave me a game that was sent to him - MATRIX (Matrix- Dual Puzzle Co.). Frank knows the gal who puts it out, in fact she used his facilities. She did it just for the experience and didn't care how good her items were and whether she made a profit. This gal gave Frank a puzzle TEN-YEN, which he intends to put out. He knows it is pretty old but he doesn't have a date. I remembered having it in my collection. He'll call me when he gets to the hotel to see if I have a date. Driving him to subway we discussed following:- I will give him ACQUIRE when he comes to New York in May. THEOL-O-GEE is a gag rather than a game. Once you have played it you know all the gags. (cont. on 3/10)
