MONDAY 16 FEBRUARY 1970 47th day - 318 days to come

Felicia called: She had a letter from Jerry Dougherty, dated 2/11. He made the presen- tation to Enjay. He thinks it was favorably received. The answer should come within 3 weeks. They seem to think that complex mathematical games appealing to scientific minds would be most appropriate. The games submitted were TOTALLY--, TROMINO GO, THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS, and Connor's PITFALL and HALF AND HALF. I pointed out that Connor's games didn't seem to fit the type that Jerry wanted. She said that PITFALL was very well received. A messenger returned MARLBORO COUNTRY when he came to pick up FREEDOM. No message from Dan. Felicia said she'll hold onto it to show it at Toy Fair. I thought that changing it back to MATCHED SET might be wise. She said that by coincidence Hans Goldsmith also has a game MATCHED SET which she has there. It is, of course, com- pletely different. She had a letter from Arnold Shapiro. He will be in for Toy Fair and wants to get together with the two of us. Since we'll be running around earlier, he thinks Thursday or Friday will be bet- ter. Felicia thinks maybe the business will take us out to lunch. There is nothing new to report except that the big wheels (not his words) are having a big meeting (when?) to establish priorities for new products. Hopefully games will be up there. In discussing her market report she mentioned that retailers thought that the 3M Card Line is a bomb. (I hope she's wrong.)

$750 check came from Stancraft. No message at all. (For TEMPO, INTERPLAY, and ODD OR EVEN.)

BB typed and I checked out the following letters:- Jared Johnson Peter Swift Jules Cooper

(cont. from 2/17) [2/27]

Met Frank Armbruster after work and we came here on the subway. He knows TAKE-FIVE, the one that is on the west coast. It is an educational game put out locally and he doesn't think there will be any conflict with my TAKE-FIVE. He will send me a copy. He will also send ALLEGIANCE. He put it out and it was a flop. An election GAME packaged in a manilla envelope. Some sets of blank playing cards. A SOMA set. He makes them for Parker's distribution on west coat. BLOCK IT - a TIC-TAC-TOE variation which also bombed. He looked at THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS. If it doesn't go with En-Jay he would like to put it out in the same series (cont. on 2/15)
