Felicia called. Arnold Shapiro sent her an extension form for
TRIPLE CROSS, said the legal dep't. slipped up. She
also spoke to him and he sounded more cheerful. He'll
probably be in for Toy Fair and will want to look at
things. I suggested DIGIT & SPELLBINDER.
I also said that we might show GO SEE to Bolton
of Cadaco since he said last spring that he wanted to see
everything we had shown before he got there, since he
has different ideas. Felicia thought maybe she could take
him and me to lunch during Toy Fair. Possibly do the
same with a few other people, rather than a big open house.
To Renwal. Stan Harris gave me 7 each of TAM-BIT and TAKE FIVE
and 3 of SNAFU. They don't look bad at all for the
price they will sell. One slip in TAKE FIVE - the lines under
the 6 and 9 were left out. They'll have to be fixed on the
next run, but the first batch will have to go as is. Once people
notice the problem it is easy to fix. Stan said that
after 25,000 copies of the instructions were printed for
TAKE FIVE it was noticed that the face down pieces
were not instructed to be turned over. He added it and
had the whole run redone.
Lou Wetzel said they were in a rush to register the
name TAKE FIVE since one of the trade publications
mentioned a California outfit putting out something with
the same name.
Stan says that Allstate now has much more to say about
what Renwal does.
To Ideal and to see Jules Cooper. Gave me copies of
BEWILDER, ALL-PRO BASEBALL, ALL-PRO BASKETBALL, and
a duplicate of ALL-PRO FOOTBALL. He will get
ALL-PRO HOCKEY to me later.
He asked about AGOG and is interested in seeing the
reviews. Said I'd send him copies.
He said that as much as he likes the type of game I
do, their day is passed. There will never be another
MONOPOLY or SCRABBLE. 3M he says is finally breaking
even. Sales of 50,000 are all 3M does. [crossed out]
CASE OF THE ELUSIVE ASSASSIN sold at least that much
(not according to my royalty reports) but they had to drop the
line as unprofitable.
He is having the legal dept. draft a release for
CASE OF THE ELUSIVE ASSASSIN and it will be mailed to me.
He was very pleasant and apparently over his peeve about
KERPLUNK, etc. not being reviewed in AGOG.
Arthur called to check on Friday and I said next Friday
probably. It will be at Wald's house.
