MONDAY 19 JANUARY Robert E. Lee--Born 1807 1970 19th day - 346 days to come

Rcd. GIOCHI DI CARTE - VOLUME SECONDO from Rizzoli with a bill for $4.00, and 50¢ handling & shipping, and 24¢ sales tax.

Another back number of PANZERFAUST came. (Vol. 3 #6, Jan. '69) [asterisk symbol]. It contains THE GAME OF ADMIRALS an improvement of FLETCHER PRATT'S NAVAL WAR GAME. [asterisk symbol] (I am pretty sure that there is a mistake. This must be Vol. 4 #6, Jan. '70.)

Called Jules Cooper and he called back later. I can pick up BEWILDER and the sport's games tomorrow.

Felicia called. MAN IN SPACE is dead. They want to go ahead, with their own travel game, but they admit that the idea came from GO SEE. They want Sal (the artist) to work on speculation instead of a fee. Felicia thinks that they figure that to come out of our part but she'll see. I told her to get the best deal she could and whatever she arranged was O.K. with me. Dan wants to see MARLBORO COUNTRY. It will probably be too good a game for him but I said I'd bring it some time next week.

Called Brian Blake. I'll pick up the book sometime next week.

Thinking of making CASE OF THE ELUSIVE ASSASSIN into a card game for consideration by 3M. Possible name SEARCH. The 36 objective cards could have from 2 to 4 objects of 3 shapes and in 4 colors. [red triangle, red triangle, green square, green square, green square, yellow circle, yellow circle, yellow circle, yellow circle, blue triangle, blue triangle, blue triangle], etc. In addition there are cards with "2", "3", "4", [black triangle, black square, black circle], "Red", "Green", "Orange", "Blue", each repeated 6 times for a total of 60 cards in this set. These are dealt out in 6 columns of 10 each. Players in turn take two cards from the tops of two columns and [crossed out] then ask another player for the file defined, such as "3 [white triangle]", "Blue [white circle]", "Blue 3", etc. If two of the same are taken this allows asking for a file with that single parameter. The one problem is that supplying pads for keeping notes. (I think they can be made small enough.) [chart diagram: Top column headings (left to right): BLUE, RED, GREEN, ORANGE First row headings (top to bottom): 2 (triangle), 3 (triangle), 4 (triangle), 2 (square), 3 (square)]

"Remainder for notes" [drawing of perpendicular lines, labeled "3 1/2" and "2 1/4"]
