Mailed copies of AGOG to Bob Engel & Mary Hilt.
Looked at the date on the TRIPLE CROSS contract - 1/8/68.
Told Felicia at meeting.
To I-S with BB. Felicia, Jerry, Dan, Ruth Shaler, and
Sal (an artist). Jerry had the clipping he spoke about
earlier in the week. It said that Braniff would devote
its advertising to [crossed out] familiarizing the public
with their routes. He ^Jerry had a rough board with the cities
served by Braniff in South America and a game worked out using
a spinner with numbers 1 to 5 and choice. Players get sight
seeing cards, a hand of 3. Move by spinner and then must reach
one of their sightseeing cities by exact count, going by a round-
about route if it works out this way, cards have point values on
them. After a card is used (kept by the player using it)
he draws another. When all the cards are used the
most points wins.
I pointed out that there was no suspense & no climax.
Also that it wasn't realistic to have players flying a
round about route to reach a destination. I suggested [crossed out]
having 60 sight seeing cards and dividing them equally
between the players. Players plan their trip to see their
sights in the most efficient way (details to be worked out)
and the first to see all wins.
Jerry, Dan, and Sal really didn't listen to my idea and
instead had the idea of "the million mile club" or winning by
being the first to fly 1,000,000 miles. Sal suggested changing
the points on the cards to miles, which I said was meaningless.
Then they wanted to just add the milage traveled along
the routes (to be marked on each route). Ruth & I felt that
this detracted from the interest in the sight seeing. Also I
pointed out that adding up the milage is laborious and no fun.
Ruth suggested adding cards which send you to different
cities and a RUMMY like play where you either play a sight-
seeing card for the city everyone is in or play a [crossed out]
"fly to" card. No reaction from them.
They left without settling anything except that we are to
hold off with any further work till we hear from them.
After they left Felicia told me that Dan didn't care at all for
MAN IN SPACE but didn't have the heart to tell me. He thought
the use of the colors was "unrealistic." If he told me I
could easily have eliminated the colors. Instead number dice-
from 1 to 4 - could be used and the project could be numbered
with movable tabs. We were both mad that he didn't commun-
icate.
Ruth & I both felt that they didn't know beans about games.
But by the time they louse up the game we will still be
able to use GO SEE as a proprietory game.
