THURSDAY 23 DECEMBER 1971
357th day - 8 days to come
Downtown to meet Bob Gellman and a photographer Martine Gilcrest at a restaurant. Discussed GO SEE and a possible new name.
She suggested RACE THE SUN (which she has registered). After she left
Bob and I talked some more. I suggested HOLIDAY and he
suggested JET HOLIDAY which we both liked.
To the studio and home of Joan, who does art work for
Research Games. Bob & I discussed JET HOLIDAY. He told me will probably get slides from Martine to use for the cards. She
will let him use them at $25 each if he includes a illegible flier
for possible purchases by game buyers of her travel
slides (which is one of her businesses) if her business
agent concurs. Otherwise she wanted $100 each.
He gave me a number of cities not to use since
Martine doesn't have slides for them, also some to add
that he has slides of himself.
I suggested 64 cards so that 8 players could each get
8 cards. He agreed.
We discussed the art work on the box. He suggested a
number of couples playing in a cocktail party setting. I
suggested a 747 lounge as the setting and he liked it.
For the inexpensive series of games they already have the
illegible following themes covered: Cowboys, Pirates, Spies,
Picnic, Jungle Animals. He would like me to come up with
some other themes and I suggested Space.
Because he works so close on these he doesn't give 5% royalties.
He again said that he is doing JET HOLIDAY because he wants
me to think of him when I have a game. He doesn't expect
me to show it to him before 3M, but possibly next.
I said that if they wanted a game on any subject I
would work on it just for him. He said that his partner
could come up with a game if they had a subject.
I saw him showing some art work on a game, MASTER SPY,
to Joan. Didn't get any details.
A lot more thinking on FOREIGN INTRIGUE and think I have
it just about licked.
Letter from Mike Abrams. His SUCCESSION has been put out
as BLOCK 'N SCORE. He sent me a folder from the company,
"Simile II" which mentions several simulation games for
lower grades and a free catalog which lists CRISIS,
NAPOLI, SITTE, and METROPOLITS.
A book THE GUIDE TO SIMULATION GAMES FOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING is listed for $15.00.
Call from Earl Perel. He had a suggestion for enlarging
ISOLATION to a 12x12 board and for making it with alternating
green and white horizontal rows divided into spaces
by vertical red lines. I told him I would write to Eric
