MONDAY 20 DECEMBER 1971
354th day - 11 days to come
To Felicia's at 9:30. Tom Abrahamson, the inventor of RPM, did not show up by 11, when I left.
D.J. Kerley stopped in to get the rules for his game
BEZANT, only the 2nd part, the first part being
printed. He told me illegible that in order to to
cause more battling, the bonus for the unfilled
space after the layout is 20 points instead of 6.
I told him that this would probably make the fight
for territory almost meaningless, and suggested setting
up some other "bonus spaces."
Felicia told me that Bob Hubbard (spelling?) president of
Impact Communications, Inc. had fired Gerard Dougherty
and Dan Ferrone. They had been trying to squeeze him out.
Felicia rcd. an X'Mas card from Rudy Lopez. That
started her thinking about LIVE WIRE. She asked if 3M
had seen it. I told her I was pretty sure that they
hadn't but that I would check my records. (Told her
that at least two days a week were spent in keeping my
records.)
Checked on LIVE WIRE at night. Only Hallmark has seen
it. I have the first version submitted. She, presumably,
has the second.
We went into Herb Roth's office so that I could look at
the new Dynamic Design games. He didn't have them
any more. As soon as he gets a supply in he will let me
know.
Two men were there with gadgets for playing CANASTA
and GIN RUMMY in a wind (different gadgets for each),
Herb asked our advice on them. Probably he'll handle them.
To Skunk Works. Ran off repros of columns in S&T's #24,
[#]25, #26, #27, and #28. Took a copy of each except #26;
none of 26 were available - Red giving me the page from
his cut-up copy.
Got a set of counters for U.S.N. They had some pcs.
missing, but not the same as I had missing (see 12/4).
Jim Dunnigan and one of the other fellows were talking to
someone from the police department who was interested
in the possibility of Simulations Publ. Inc. doing a GAME
to teach police what to expect in riot control. Jim has to go
to the police for further discussions.
Took a repro of an ad for Diplomat Games (don't know from
where) including AROUND THE WORLD IN BED, BUMPS AND GRINDS, STRIP TAC TOE, ADULTERY, and OFFICE PARTY. ('71 Ad Clips.)
Al Klein's saw that they had a lot of copies of TAM-BIT for 99¢.
Also CUBE FUZION for the same price - bought 3. I believe
there are variations not in my original set.
