Thursday 2 December 1971
Monroe Doctrine Declared 1823
336th day - 29 days to come
Thinking of a puzzle - tentative name DIALEMMA - using posts
with hands (like a clock's) fastened to them. The hands are differently colored and various types of conditions can be specified. Didn't determine which would be best.
Rcd. a letter from Eric Nielsen. Contained 2 games - ISOLATION, TOUCH AND GO (TAG) (starting setup for this was missing)--
and a maze - LOONY CITY.
Bob Hallowell called. I will go there next Monday to show him HABITAT and HONORABLE RELATIONS.
The can manufacturer just about has the problems on FUN CITY licked. He is going to make up a sample.
Jean, his secretary, took Pierre Berloquin's and Lech Pijanowski's addresses to send them copies of NINE OF SWORDS.
Sunoco sent me an ad for a 3M copier for $80. I went to business machine store on 23rd St. and asked about it. He doesn't handle it because it is plastic and can warp if left on too long.
He has another 3M machine for $180 which is metal and turns itself off if overheated. Paper costs $15.50 for 200 sets, and one set is included with the purchase.
To Felicia before Bob Gellman got there.
She total told me that it was Fiel, not "Parker," who was
dissatified with the sales of TOUCH. They have not taken it from Parker yet and won't unless Felicia is successful in placing it
elsewhere. She doesn't think she will be.
She rcd. a call from Charles Titus, one of the inventors of PSYCHO-PATHS will be in town. Felicia made a tentative date with him on 12/13 at 1 P.M. I will try to make it then to meet him. (She is charging them $100, since it failed on the retail market.)
Lillian Voegelin (I have been calling her Vogel) is going to be working more & more with Felicia.
Bob Gellman came a little late. His wife is sick so he can't take me to Lakewood tomorrow. He'll mail me what Bob Schneider has done on the SCOTLAND YARD game. (When I spoke to Felicia about this before Bob came she said I definitely shouldn't compete with myself. But when he spoke about it she said that 3M didn't have to know about it. And I said that I, of course, would come up with a game completely different from SLEUTH.)
He liked what he saw of AIRLINE and took it with him. He doesn't think he can have it ready for '72.
Felicia showed him MARLBORO COUNTRY. He wants things that are definitely tied to a specific real activity. Felicia showed him WHAT'S IT WORTH IN DOLLARS? There are coins from 20 countries, enough for each player (how many?) to take 5 of each country. Also two wooden nickles per player.
