SUNDAY 28 NOVEMBER 1971
First Sunday in Advent
332nd day - 33 days to come
Decided to call RESTRUCTURE HONORABLE RELATIONS, because of the
pseudo Chinese look of the tiles.
Started working on HABITAT.
In Sunday TIMES magazine section Gimbels had an ad for
"Adult games by Reiss", including NINE OF SWORDS, ORBIT,
BRIDGETTE, PLATO'S PLIGHT, and TRI-TAC-TOE. ('71 ad clips)
Hammacher Schlemmer had ad for DICE PIT, MONGER, and
PANGUINGUE. ('71 ad clips).
(cont. from 12/10) [12/1]
added.
To Arthur's. After supper by taxi to Wald's.
We played a new GAME using the BYWORD deck (see 9/3).
The 36 yellow, white, and red cards are layed out face up.
Players in turn take any two cards they wish, except that
they cannot have more white cards than yellow, or more red than
white. Then 6 cards are turned from the green deck. The matching
cards, both on the layout and in the player's possession, are
turned face down.If both of a player's cards are turned
down, he is out of this round and also the next. Remaining
players take two more cards, followed by a second six from
the green deck. Then another two cards by each player and a
final six cards from the green deck. (When 2 play, each
player picks 3 cards each turn. When 4 play, each picks 2.)
Players score 1 point for each face up yellow cards, 2 points
for each face up white card, and 4 points for each red card.
Additionally, the total is multiplied by the number of yellow
cards. With no yellow cards each other card is worth 1 point.
The game is played in three "columns". 3 rounds are recorded
in each column. Only the player with the highest total for a
column scores in final tabulation. (Ties?) If the player
with the highest total scores in two rounds, he doubles his
score. Triple if in three rounds. Incidentally, in a round a player
only the player scoring the highest amount enters
his score in the column. (Ties?)
We also played FOLLY. Players in turn are given a setup made
by cutting the cards and (HIGH DECK) and then dealing out
the 32 cards and then removing all except the cut house.
The remaining deck is cut secretly. The player chooses cards
until he picks the card matching that cut. He scores 1 point
for each card picked before matching - with a maximum of 7.
A player has the chance to better the preceeding player
at least once. Thus the first player always has a second
chance if he is topped. In case of a 7, a second 7 tops it.
Scoring is in columns similar to the preceeding.
