TUESDAY 23 NOVEMBER 1971
327th day - 38 days to come
Felicia called. Bob Edwards called her yesterday.
FITTING & PROPER - they like it almost as much as I do. They are
sending us a renewal contract and $250. It will definitely be
in the "first wave" which will be issued under the "Springbok"
label. (I told her about the "Bookshelf" jigsaw puzzles.)
The first wave will consist of puzzles and word games. Out-
side of FITTING & PROPER he wouldn't tell her what would be
included. Sometime between May and August of 1972 he will
start sending her art work and samples.
Word games seem to be filled up. He had her send
I SENTENCE U but no more. She asked, in order to save
money on postage, what categories they are interested in -
2 hand strategy games and card games.
If they can solve the problem of players getting headaches
SPELLBINDER will probably be in. They are still working on a
new set of cards.
They still haven't rcd. PLANES.
Felicia is going ahead, probably, with Lilian Vogel's game file
idea, and Lilian came in while we were talking.
Felicia is going to spend a whole day with the development man
from Samsonite. Next year they are coming out with 60 new items,
toys & games, mainly for children. If they ask her, she will advise
them against going into adult games. They will be discussing the 1973
season. She will ask Al Richter to join them - maybe he can
learn something to get him working in the right direction.
I asked her to ask them about AMOEBA's fate. She said she would.
Rappaport's complains that there are just too many adult games
and they are not going to handle those of marginal companies.
Felicia convinced them to include EXECUTIVE DECISION in an
ad she was doing for them, but they never received the order
they put in some time ago.
She rcd. a letter from Arnold Shapiro. He is leaving Hallmark because
he is not happy with his new superior. He sent her his resume
and asked if she knew of any possibilities. She sent it to Mel Taft,
in view of all the companies they have been acquiring.
He told her to give me his regards.
Called Eve Auchincloss at BOOK WORLD. Gave her the mail order
address for BUGS & LOOOPS. Reminded her that she'd call me when
the proofs were in.
Called Robert Gellman of Research Games, Inc. I'll go there
on Weds. 12/1 and he'll take me to lunch.
Called Jim Dunnigan. Had him add the word "still" as Dale
suggested to my writeup of THE GODFATHER GAME.
Gave him Colby Duerk's and Rob Randall's addresses to have their
prize sets of KURSK sent.
I'll bring him TRIREME on 12/1. He'll run repros of the rules
for me on their new machine. Also copies of my S & T
(cont. on 11/28)
