TUESDAY 26 OCTOBER 1971
299th day - 66 days to come
Call from Phil Orbanes. Bill Knox will probably be in Friday
of this week. I told Phil I'd definately have HOLEY TERROR
ready to show him and, if at all possible, HABITAT (I
didn't actually call them by name).
When Knox comes in Phil will check with him on a contract
for GROOVE and for another PUZZLE that Phil did.
Told Phil that Jim gave me THE NEXT PRESIDENT but I only had
a chance to glance at it. I said there seemed to be a
resemblance to 3M's MR. PRESIDENT. The only one that Phil
was familiar with was the original card game, never having
seen the bookshelf version. I told him that I would compare the
games after getting a copy of the latest
MR. PRESIDENT from 3M (Jack Davis).
Phil suggested that the two of us rework CONGLOMERATES and
INFINITY, with my sharing in any future royalties. I
said that the latter needs further work, but that the
former was great just as it is. Phil said that when he
submitted CONGLOMERATES to A.H. the test panel liked it,
but suggested that more interaction between players be provided.
For INFINITY Phil wants to come up with a board other
than a square grid. I agreed.
Phil has an informal agreement with Carl Eisenberg
giving him a one year option on CONGLOMERATES.
Carl Eisenberg is putting out Phil's DREAM MASTER and
AQUARIUS 2 which will sell for $7. He is holding up on
PRIX since Bob Reiss is not sure whether a gambling game
will go.
Phil got a price for molding the pcs. for SPACE STIX that
looks good. His idea was to have them all the way thru
for better visibility. I suggested instead using a
light color opaque and having the holes stop on one side.
Phil agreed.
Phil has come up with a puzzle idea he calls HASSLE. Three
cylenders are connected by strings of different
length to a handle. Object is to pile the cylenders one on top of another, using
only the handle.
[Diagram of three cylinders attached th strings.]
For legal purposes I-Q is supposed to have a director's meeting
yearly. He will send me the minutes of this year's "meeting".
I was renominated as V-P in charge of games.
Bob Hallowell will visit him tonight and will call me if he
has any messages.
Rcd. NOST-ALGIA (#138, Oct. '71). Again nothing at all on
new games.
Henry Levy of Brentano's called while I was out and I
called back. They will be putting an ad in the
TIMES saying Sid Sackson inventor of ACQUIRE
(cont. on 10/24)
