MONDAY 25 OCTOBER 1971
Veterans' Day
298th day - 67 days to come
Sent in the PLAYTHINGS information request card, asking
about CHEM-CHEXX and OUT OF SIGHT.
Sent in $1.49 for a copy of BRAIN DRAIN (see 10/18).
Call from Felicia. She needs ZEC-HI rules. Told her I'd
drop them in her mailslot late this afternoon.
She rcd. the royalty report for HIGH BID - only half of
last year for the same period. Larry and Pearl Winters may
go to 3M to complain about their presentation and lack of
publicity.
Al Richter came in while I was talking to her.
To [illegible crossed out] Felicia's to return the ZEC-HI rules after
getting repros of the rules, but not the 7 examples.
To Skunk Works. Steve Patrick interviewed me about the development
of adult games in the U.S. since the advent of A.H. Most
emphasis on my games and on 3M. (He taped the interview.)
Jim gave me a copy of THE NEXT PRESIDENT. Also the
English game TRIREME (Decalset). In a folder they advertise
rules for WAR OF THE ROSES and
BATTLE OF BRITAIN CAMPAIGN.
Rcd. some mail addressed to me at the S & T office: -
Bob Eckert - likes my published games and AGOG. Wants
info on obtaining LENSMAN, NEW TOWN, VECTOR, the
original CONFRONTATION. Bob Eckert did SPEED CIRCUIT
for 3M, but they didn't use his original rules.
Darrell Waldron - where can he buy SPACEVENTURE?
George Fronval offered information from the French Ministry
of the Army, or to write articles for S & T. (Why did they
pass this on to me?)
Impact/Public Relations (Evanston, Ill.) Information and
pictures on Franklin Merchandising Company's SHOVE IT,
TENNIS ANYONE?, THE GREAT DOWNHILL SKI GAME, and URSULA.
Jim gave me three copies of S & T GUIDE (#1 - Second Quarter '71),
S & T SUPPLEMANT (#10), a rating of war games determined
from the feedback from S & T #28. The first three are
PANZERBLITZ, DIPLOMACY, and KURSK.
I also took an extra set of rules for DARK AGES, by mistake.
I was actually missing a set of rules to
LOST BATTLES.
Jim took Steve Patrick, me and John (?) to supper. In the business
discussion learned the S & T SUPPLEMENT and GAME DESIGN
will be combined in one publication, tentative name
SIMULATIONS.
Arranged with Jim to come to Skunk Works on 11/5 to test
play ORIGINS OF WORLD WAR II.
Claude called and talked about MANIPULATION. He played it
