SATURDAY 23 OCTOBER 1971
296th day - 69 days to come
Called Bob Abbott to thank him for sending me
MONEYSWORTH. He said he's interested in making up
games again but hasn't had any success.
(cont. from 10/24) [10/26]
I'd ride out sometime to pick them up. I asked, and
he will send one to Poland for me, and his warehouse
man does an excellent packing job.
FUN CITY. He now has a manufacturer of tin cans for
beer working on it and there is a good chance he'll
come up with a solution. The heft will be a little
lacking but they can do a beautiful printing job on
the tin.
He thinks there is a good chance of getting a lot of new
money into Gametime and then he can really grow. He is
counting on me for more new items and hopes that
before long long I'll be getting more royalties from Gametime
than 3M. Told him I have some ideas that I
have to work up and we agreed that I'll go up there
sometime in December. That is not too late since he
doesn't think it is particularly important to make the
Stationery Show.
Later thought of showing him RESTRUCTURE.
ORBIT is doing quite well, but until he gets the new mold
the profit margin is poor.
Claude called. He is following some of my suggestions on
MANIPULATION. He is shortening the path and eliminating
the drastic shifts from low to high. I suggested changing
the end of the game from the bank being exhausted to
the last color passing the end of the track a set number
of times. He liked the idea.
[Started 10/26] [arrows pointing to lines above and below]
Rcd. a call from Jed Gaines of Gamut of Games. He was in
touch with the head of Stancraft concerning the name
INTERPLAY. He was noncommital, but seemed to indicate that
Stancraft would want some money for allowing them to use
the name. If they want any appreciable sum Jed said they
would use a different name, such as INTERACTION. Their
lawyer, incidentally, said that Stancraft could give them
trouble even though they did not register the name.
Stancraft is rather stupid about the whole thing, considering
that Gamut has been interested in having Stancraft print
the cards for BRIDGETTE, some 100,000 sets a year.
