WEDNESDAY 20 OCTOBER 1971
293rd day - 72 days to come
Rcd. check for $262.63 (2/3 of $393.94) from Phil Orbanes,
for NINE OF SWORDS, June - August. Also statement
that I have 4.39 shares. Also two copies of a letter covering
our stock agreement.
Rcd. a letter from Haar Hoolim. Had question about HI - SPOT
and comments on SPECULATION and VECTOR. Also some
more game ideas.
Rcd. another answer to SLEUTH problem.
Called Eve Auchincloss. Nothing new on my piece for
BOOK WORLD except that, since Nov. 19th is a Friday, I can
bring it in on Nov. 22nd. The length is still 1500 words.
Bernie Lane called. Wanted some info on me to show to
Mr. Rasor of Xerox. Told him about my resume and he wants me
to send it to him. Also to start lining up games from manufacturers.
Got repros of SPELLBINDER rules at Boston Post Rd.
Downtown. To S & R and spoke to Lee W. Tiffany, advertising
manager. Asked him about the large size RSVP game for the
Xerox exhibit. That will be available, and also a SCRABBLE
and SCRABBLE FOR JUNIORS. Spoke about my collection and
he insisted on sending me a PARCHEESI game made for their
100th anniversary. It was given free to V.I.P.s and
sold for $35. I asked and he'll also send me a copy of R.P.M..
He spoke about their archives and he said that they
have a wealth of all kinds of games there, since
at the beginning S & R was a jobber and importer,
rather than a manufacturer. To get permission to
visit the archives I have to write to:
{Mr. Angelo Longo
{Selchow & Righter Co.
{2215 Union Blvd.
{Bay Shore, New York 11706
To G & R. Looked at HAVOC and RICOCHET. Didn't make much
of them and will look again.
Told the secretary about the BOOK WORLD piece and that I
will cover CAVEAT EMPTOR. She tried to sell me on NINETYSEVEN
and I said there was nothing particularly wrong or right with
the game. She agreed.
I said I would like to include NEW TOWN but Charles Wivel
hadn't sent me a copy. She made a note to have him send me
one.
