SUNDAY 17 OCTOBER 1971
Nineteenth Sunday after Trinity
290th day - 75 days to come
Looked at GIOCO DEL CALCIO (see 10/2). Saw that it wasn't
a new game at all. Instead it was acomic book for
children with an article on soccer and a calender
of games for the season. The cut out pcs. and field
seemed to be for keeping track of actual games.
(Discatrded the magazine and put the other material in
the "Misc. Box.")
Working on SPELLBINDER cards.
(cont. from 10/18) [10/20]
To Felicia's. Brought her the revised SPELLBINDER.
Jac Freidght, V.P. of First National City Bank was there
came with his game HIGH FINANCE or GOLD. Altho he had
a very rough model I thought that the game had merit.
Felicia will handle it after he has a model made.
Players win by obtaining 7 bars of gold. These are auctioned
periodically. I brought up the problem of one player having
6 bars when an auction came. Who will outbid him, possibly
at the expense of his own chances? He hadn't considered
this, but will think about it.
He left a set of rules, which Felicia gave to me. I
added some notes on the board to the rules.
Felicia had some of Rael Cowan's games there:
BREAD - A complicated gambling game with some of the
aspects of 21, except that the player also draws a
number at random to set his goal. (Didn't get the details.)
POWER AND PUPPET - A strategy game with each player
having a "Power" and 2 "Puppets" which have different
moves. Object is to capture the opposing "Power". (Didn't get the details,
but it looked awful.)
ZEC-HI - Took along a copy of his new rules, incorporating
the changes Felicia said Hallmark suggested.
She showed me their letter and the way I read it all
it said was that they couldn't understand the rules
& if they were fixed up, they would take a look at it again.
I'll Felicia look at the rules and return them.
Felicia says she'll probably drop Rael. He thinks his games
are marvelous, when they're not.
To Earl Perel's. Claude joined us. Played 3 hand
CAVEAT EMPTOR. It was fum but a little too much luck.
Blocked out a letter on him for me to send to Small Business Admin.
At Felicia's Herb brought in a reprint from NEWSDAY (a
recent Saturday according to an article in New York Mag.).
Felicia made some notes and gave it to me. It
mentions the following: WHO CAN BEAT NIXON?, CONFRONTATION,
