THURSDAY 7 OCTOBER 1971
280th day - 85 days to come
Rcd. 2 answer to SLEUTH problem.
Bob Abbott sent me a copy of MONEYSWORTH (Oct. 18, '71). Reviews
briefly: MONOPOLY, ACQUIRE, MANAGEMENT, STOCKS AND BONDS, RISK,
DIPLOMACY, PANZERBLITZ, JUTLAND, KRIEGSPIEL, U-BOAT, EXTINCTION,
DIRTY WATER, SMOG, ECOLOGY, HE-SHE-HIM-HER, WOMEN'S LIB,
THE LIB GAME, GROUP THERAPY, OPINION, SENSITIVITY, ON-SETS,
WFF 'N PROOF, BLACKS & WHITES, BEAT THE DRAFT, MOVIE MOGULS,
THE CITIES GAME, MASTERPIECE, CONVENTION.
Also mentioned are ADULTERY, SCHLEMIEL, MOB STRATEGY,
SEDUCTION, MY SON THE DOCTOR, MONOGAMY-POLYGAMY, ASTROBLITZ,
STRIP-TAC-TOE, NEWLYWED GAME, PROPAGANDA, BODY TALK,
BUMPS AND GRINDS.
Rcd. a copy of ORIGINS OF WORLD WAR II from Tom Shaw of A.H. [Avalon Hill]
Also some TAROT cards and a note from Thom asking if I knew
which game they came from.
In a toystore in the outskirts of Amsterdam saw MONEY MAKER.
A tag said it was "Als Monopolie." Didn't look at the details but
it seemed to have the characteristics. Is based on cars and traveling -
with motels, gas stations, etc.
(cont. from 10/13)
believes that it is more my type of game than a full
simulation. I'll pick it up and review it in my column.
After talking to Jim I called Fred Schachter and gave
him Pierre Berloquin's address.
Third call from Felicia. Zea Gelman was in to see her. Zena
spoke to her about MEM - Anatole Holt is trying to get
someone to take over his stock, etc. HAGGLE - Felicia thinks
she might be able to do something with this. Zena gave
her a lot of sets. Told her I already have one. Zena
told Felicia that Anatole has 7 more GAMEs but
Felicia didn't get the info on them.
Jake Williams was in with his Football GAME. Felicia
didn't flip over it. It uses film in razor cartridges (?)
to create plays and Felicia thinks it would have to
sell for $50 or more. I mentioned FOTOELECTRIC FOOTBALL
and Felicia said there was a similarity.
Jake developed the game while he was working for a company.
When they were taken over, and Jake lost his job, they
gave the rights to him.
Jake looked at the packaging of IMAGE (package design is
his primary field) and he said that, because of its white
background, it would get lost on the shelf. Felicia asked
