Friday 17 September
1971
U.S. Constitution Adopted 1878
260th day - 105 days to come
BB mailed INTERPLAY to Jed Gaines ($1.20) and the
AIRLINE rules to Felicia.
Rcd. Sept. TOYS. THE GREAT DOWNHILL SKILL GAME is shown
in "New Products."
Rcd. 8 SLEUTH solutions, 1 incorrect. 1 told me that he
liked ACQUIRE.
Later rcd. a special delivery from S.K. Howard with a
SLEUTH solution and also mentions of his GO variation.
Recently he bought MR. PRESIDENT, EXECUTIVE DECISION, EVADE,
and SPEED CIRCUIT. He "sniffed" at SLEUTH but will buy it
now.
Rcd. a post card from Phil Cohen. He has copies of three
booklets by Vern R. Parton:
1) CHALLENGE AND DELIGHT OF CHESSICAL & DECIMAL. (He can loan it to me.)
2) CHESSICAL CUBISM OR CHESS IN SPACE. (He can get me Xeroxes of this.)
3) CHESSHIRE CAT PLAYETH LOOKING-GLASS CHEESSYS. (He can get me Xeroxes of this.)
Rcd. a letter from Jim Kraus. They suggest that in
PROFIT a player be allowed to have as many as he wishes
of stock cards, instead of being limited to 6. He also
mentioned BAZAAR, WILD WOOD PILE, PLANES, SLEUTH, EVADE.
Rcd. a long distance call from Jim Krause about PROFIT. They feel that there
is too much advantage to dealing in "Blue Chip". I felt
that this was because they don't restrict the number
of cards stock certificates a player can have before
him. Jim agreed this might be the case.
They were thinking of possibly changing the number
of available shares in "Blue Chip" - lessening them. The
deck has to be finalized by the middle of October.
We agreed that I would study the matter - probably bringing
a set with me to Europe. He'll call me on 10/13 to discuss it again.
I spoke about PLANES. In his letter he said it was too expensive
for Gamette and that I was right in suggesting it for
Bookshelf. But that is Keith's area. He then said he'd most
likely return it to me. In our conversation he said there might
be a possibility of having it in a packaging by itself. In any case
he will not return it until we talk next week.
Called Felicia and told her about Jim's call and about his
comments on WILD WOOD PILE.
Pat Duncan called off their date to see X-CHANGE-WORD today.
She sounded genuinely sorry.
Felicia has been hearing conflicting reports about The Puzzle
Factory - some saying it was doing great, and others that it
