TUESDAY 31 AUGUST 1971
243rd day - 122 days to come
Rcd. the book THE STUDY OF GAMES from Wiley. $9.95 + 70 [cents]
tax and 28 [cents] postage.
Rcd. the new rules for NINETYSEVEN and added them to the box.
They are much better.
Rcd. my letter returned by Tom Shaw with a noted that he
believes I am among the winners (of JZ). As high as
$35 was bid for CIVIL WAR. He will be sending me a new
catalog soon.
Rcd. a letter from Pierre Berloquin. He wants to get together.
He has a copy of Culin's GAMES OF THE ORIENT. He is
interested in subscribing to S & T. He rcd. NEW DEAL SOLITAIRE.
Felicia called. She asked me the name of the new gadget by 3M
-KRESKIN'S KRYSTAL- and she said it was doing very poorly.
Told her that I rcd. NOMINATION back from Mary Hilt. She said
to hold onto it. No one else would be interested in it.
I told her the name of the new 3M sports game that she had
asked about last time - SPEED CIRCUIT.
She asked about LOTTERY and I told her it was doing very well.
She said that the game business is really picking up.
She had to cut me off since someone came in.
Phil Orbanes called. He asked me about PINPOINT and GUSHER.
He is thinking of a similar type of gadget.
Bob Reiss would like to visit me next week. I told him the
time was not good for me and he'll call back.
He has a solitaire type game called COOKIE MONGER. There
are 24 pcs. made to look like cookies. There are 4 with 1
dot, 4 with 2 dots, etc. These are piled, following certain
rules. There is an easy way and a hard way. This will
be packaged in an apothecary jar.
If they can think of a form for SPACE STIX that looks
like food they may put it in the same packaging.
This series will be called "Food for Thought".
I said I'd have at least one PUZZLE ready to show Bob
Reiss (the one of 7/19).
He asked me my opinion of the WELFARE GAME. Told him
I didn't care much for it. So I'll give it a mini-review
rather than knocking it.
I asked him about HOLEY TERROR. He'll be seeing Carl Eisenberg
this week and will check with him.
I asked him about MANHATTAN MADNESS. It will be a few months
before there is an answer but Phil thinks that Bob Hallowell
will find a way to do it.
Felicia called again. She rcd. AIRLINE and MARLBORO COUNTRY
from Mary Hilt. She'll try AIRLINE elsewhere, possibly
Avalon Industries. There is a good chance that they may
be taking one of Al Richter's craft items.
