SATURDAY 28 AUGUST 1971
240TH DAY - 125 DAYS TO COME
Rcd. a letter from Lech Pijanowski. He rcd. the books I sent
him and also the rules of the games. TAC-TICKLE is too simple.
MEM seems complicated. He thinks that ODD OR EVEN is the
best of the bunch.
He doesn't have STRATEGIE yet and expects it in two months. Will send
me info then.
His PUZZLE should make up to a 5 x 3 rectangle, not a square. The
one he sent is his last letter. He would like a copy of my
NINE OF SWORDS.
Mentioned Dr. Haber's TRIMINO, VERHEXT (German name for
HEXOMINO), and PENTOMINOS.
Sent me the missing HINDENBURG scoring.
Sent me a little info about the folowing games in his POLISH HOYLE: -
WALCZACE WEZE, HAWAR, GRODY, JEZDZCY (HORSEMEN),
MOSTY (BRIDGES), PAJAKI, LINEA DZIESIEC, WIELOBOJ,
MAU-MAU, GARIBALDKA, TRZYDZIESCI JEDEN, SZEWC, (BOXES). The book will be ready for X'Mas and he will send me a copy.
He suggested getting PRESIDENTS DIRECTEURS GENERAUX, LES in Paris.
He thinks that THE WORM TURNS. He sent me some ideas he had for
3D PUZZLES.
He mentioned the following games from POLKADICE HER: -REVERSI,
SHIMANTHA PRADESH, TAU, LISOLO, MATEMATICO, TOTOLOSPI,
WHO IS THE MURDERER is a very simple children's game.
He will photograph the Russian GAME with moving gates, and send it.
He will send me the rules of MAGELLAN in his next letter.
He sent me a list of "QUESTIONS and Needs."
He sent me a German 3M ad listing : <u.ACQUIRE, BAZAAR, BREAKTHRU, and TWIXT.
Rcd. a letter from from Bob Lauzon, with my membership
card in NOST.
Rcd. THE GAMESLETTER #27.
Worked out a new price structure for LOTTERY and made a
new payment chart. Also changed a lot of the "Travel
Cards. Played with Al & Adela Richter. They liked it.
Gave Al an old set (not the very earliest) of ACQUIRE. BB
will type up the rules for the two hand version for him.
We played a completelt new version of his GAME of 4/17 on
the GO board. We tried different sizes
and finally came down to a 10 x 10 area
similar to shown,
[Diagram of a 8 x 8 grid with 2 black circles and 2 white circles - one near each corner.]
except that an additional
line all around is provided. I believe that
a checkerboard as shown would serve equally well.
We tried different starting positions
and finally I came up with the one shown
which seems to be the best.
We played partnership but it is just the
same as a 2-hand with partners taking turns.
(What follows is written as played 2-hand.)
