SUNDAY 20 JUNE
Father's Day
Second Sunday after Trinity 1971 171st day - 194 days to come
Bob and Vicki Simon's son, Paul likes two hand games and I
promised to send him a FOCUS booklet.
(cont. from 6/23) [6/26]
are given, most being quiz type where cities are called
from cards and players try to place pegs (nails) in the
proper holes. The last is a race game where one player
attempts to go from a city on the east to one in hte
west. These are determined by facing two groups of
cards and choosing the furthest east from one and the
furthest west from the other. Players have a number of city
cards in a "hand" and play one, placing a nail in the
proper hole, each turn and then draw another. The travel-
er trys to reach his destination by placing nails in cities
next to the one in which he is. (What is next, since
there are no lines connecting cities on the map?) If the player
is forced by the other players, by their placement of nails,
to reach the wrong destination, he loses. (The rules were
very unclear.)
WHAT-IS-IT or THE WAY TO MAKE MONEY (M.B. - N.D.). There is a
deck of cards which gives lists of 4 items in different
classifications. (Example: Railroad - 20, Locomotive - 10,
Passenger Car - 5, R.R. Ticket - 0.) Some cards are marked
(What-is-it -- Auction). (No rules.)
CONNETTE (M.B. - N.D.)
Strings divide top of box
into squares. Scoring is
marked at bottom. Cones
are flipped into spaces
to score.
[sketch of 7x7 grid drawn on a 3-D board; sketch of cone on see-saw]
AROUND THE WORLD WITH THE GRAF ZEPPELIN (J.W. Spear &
Sons, New York - N.D.). Another AUTHORS.
In the rules was an ad for a game
COPPIT AND CAPPIT. Board and cone pieces as
shown.
[sketch of circular track with vertical and horizontal track crossing center; two cone pieces.]
LITERARY GAME OF FAME (P. - N.D.). Quiz game.
TIVOLI GAME (Spear - N.D.) Action game.
Marbles dropping down thru moving figures
onto a flat surface with scoring holes.
GAME OF RADIO FLASH (Rosenwald-Milius - N.D.).
Multiple path race game of ships sailing
in the Atlantic Ocean (I believe). Some spaces are marked
with morse code letters. In the rules is a listing
of the instructions, such as lose a turn - go to another space -
etc. - coded to each letter. (Very rough idea.)
(cont. on 6/19)
