SATURDAY 19 JUNE
1971 170th day - 195 days to come
Called Richard Altabef and discussed this game
REVOLUTION AND COUNTERREVOLUTION with him. Told him that
a long game must have a beginning, middle, and end. Told him
that I am mailing it back to him today and that he
should work on it. Leave him my number in case he wants to
discuss it with me.
Called Arthur. He has the rules of POWUR for me but, in-
stead of having him mail them I'll visit him during his vaca-
tion, the week after July 4th, and get them then.
He and Wald are working on something new. An interesting piece
of equipment, but they haven't perfected a GAME yet.
Wald met someone with whom he was discussing games, when
ACQUIRE came up the [crossed out] fellow said that it was a
famous game.
Called Claude. He sent 2 copies of GENIUS BLOCKS to Frank
Armbruster about 2 weeks ago and he rcd. a letter from
Frank that he never got them. Frank is anxious to go with
them and Claude will send another.
Claude asked Frank for a gross of GENIUS BLOCKS instead of
an advance (which Frank can't afford) and he agreed.
Claude told me about a toy museum in Philadelphia which
also has games in the collection, but not on display when
he was there. { Perelman Antique Toy Museum, 270 South St., Philadelphia, Penna.
Showed PIONERSKAJA IGROTEKA to my father and he trans-
lated one puzzle, MYSTERY OF THE GREEN BAR.
Lech marked it as being particularly interesting. I thought
it was much too easy.
Went over the book putting checks next to each game I
want my father to translate; also puzzles.
(cont. from 6/20) [6/26]
STEEPLE CHASE (McLaughlin - N.D.). Horses race by throw of 2 dice.
Obstacles at various points of 100 space track. (Very rough idea.)
THE BICYCLE GAME (P. 1894). Board shows a network of roads
connecting cities, with "Centerville" in the center of the
board. Each player draws a card which gives him a starting city,
several to visit enroute, and ending in Centerville. (Very rough
idea.)
AMERICAN CITIES (P. - 1893). 52 cards divided into 4 series (suits).
Each card has a city and trick taking value of card de-
pends on the population of the city. A simple trick taking
game is given. (Very rough idea.)
THE GAME OF RADIO (P. - 1923). [Herb will send me a copy of the rules.]
(cont. on 6/13)
