MONDAY 24 MAY
1971 144th day - 221 days to come
Got the TRANSFORMATION letter typed and out.
Rcd. ORION from Parker.
Claude called. He has a variation of LOA for 2, 3, and
4 or 6 players in partnership which has more pieces
and more play value. He'd like to try it with Hallmark
again since they are hot on DUEL. He is thinking of changing
the name, but I warned him against trying to fool them.
I told him about POTENTIAL and the gimmick in the 4-hand
version. He thought of another idea for a similar type
gimmick. When a player reached a certain level he automati-
cally becomes partners with the lowest of the other 3 players
and the other two become partners.
He doesn't have a game for it now but, he said, if he gets one
he'll owe me 5%. We then decided that aside from
EXECUTIVE DECISION and DEDUCTION we would not give each
other cuts outside of a major contribution.
He is thinking of calling CHICKEN CHOW MEIN THE GRANDFATHER GAME
with the connotation that grandparents can enjoy playing with
their grandchildren & visa-versa.
Tried to get Rudy Lopez to tell him about LIVE WIRE. No answer
at his number. Someone else at number he gave me as his mother's.
Wrote to Keith Tuggle thanking him for correcting the rules
for EXECUTIVE DECISION.
Looked at my old files on COMBINATION variations for an
idea for a triangle game for Frank Armbruster. All my
variations are non-triangle.
(cont. from 5/23) [5/19]
doesn't have a set and I'll send him one, also information
on the inventors. (Neo Press - MUDCRACK Y.)
Told him about the rolling cube GAME idea. He'd like to see it.
Promised to send copies of my S&T columns.
Asked Joyce when we, including Tom Atwater, could get together
to talk. She said I should come to Concord and I said I would.
3M: Finally found Bill Caruson there. He was quite cordial and seemed
pleased with the way EXECUTIVE DECISION was going.
I mentioned something about foreign sales and he said that was
completely out of his hands. The ones in charge at the 3M Center
are "Mike Porcara" and "George Harper." (I'll write and send a copy
of DER SPIEGEL writeup.)
EXECUTIVE DECISION will be in the "Frederick Atkins" X-Mas catalog.
It covers 19 department stores and has 2,093,000 copies.
BAZAAR is now being considered for a new packaging. I men-
