WEDNESDAY 12 MAY
1971 132nd day - 233 days to come
Called Fay Hertog. She checked and the 25 copies are definitely
on their way, but they are quite slow. I should get them
in a week or two.
Fabio is back but he was busy when I called. I'll call after
Stationery Show.
Phil Orbanes called. He got the solutions for 34 SKIDOO from the
original company (?). I told him that I already did them.
He said to bring them along and maybe they'll use two of each.
BB to Goethe House to reproduce the article in DER SPIEGEL.
The girl there, not Miss Steiger, said their machine was very
poor and loaned the magazine to BB. To Copy Shop and had
4 copies made. The article said that ACQUIRE was the
best of the 3M games but didn't have particular praise for
BAZAAR. Other non-3M games mentioned were:
DAS BÖRSENSPIEL (BROKER), GELD UND BÖRSE, DAS MILLIONSPIEL,
WELTHANDEL, ÖL FÜR ALLE, PETROL, BIGBOSS; also MONOPOLY.
Working on S&T column; wrote up EXECUTIVE DECISION.
(cont. from 5/8) [5/11]
At 23rd St. Bookstore bought MATHEMATICAL PUZZLES by Geoffrey
Mott-Smith (which Lech asked about) and MAGIC SQUARES AND CUBES
by W.S. Andrews. (Got 20% off list price.)
To Goethe House and finally found the article in the Feb. 22, 1971
issue of DER SPIEGEL. Too late to get repros, so Miss Steiger
put it aside for me to come in later in the week.
While looking saw two games advertised in the Dec. 7, 1970 issue.
HALLO BOSS - for 12 years up. A party game for enlivening the party.
BIG BOSS - for clever business men full of enterprise play.
The first sells for DM 19,80 and the second for DM 64,00. Both
are put out by:- IWA-Rechenschieberfarbrik, F. Riehle KG,
73 Esslingen, Küferstr. 13, (Germany).
Called Jim Dunnigan and told him of my plans for my S&T
column for #28; reviews of EXECUTIVE DECISION and
SLEUTH, with the Supersleuth problem. He offered a copy
of KURSK to the first to solve it.
Called Claude to tell him that the DUEL check came. Not in
and spoke to Anne. She, Claude, Raymond, and Richie
played EXECUTIVE DECISION. She thought it was more work
than fun, but the others liked it.
