SUNDAY 2 MAY
Third Sunday after Easter 1971 122nd day - 243 days to come
Looking at the material on magic squares in Kraitchik's
MATHEMATICAL RECREATIONS. Called Phil Orbanes to see
how many different ones he wants. They are interested
in 10 different solutions, based on certain criteria.
When I go there Wednesday we will go over it and if
we can't work it out then I'll do it at home.
Phil said that Bob Reiss would pay me for any time I spent
on it. I said that, while I don't mind getting money, I'm
even more interested in getting copies of the various games
Reiss handled. Phil said that that could easily be arranged-
getting the samples instead of the money. Of course if
it involves a lot of work, I'll be paid. but small assignments
I'll take payment in games.
He can get copies of CLASS and HE, SHE, HIM, HER for
me now. The political game THE NEXT PRESIDENT (see 4/14)
will be out by October, and will be pushed in the Book-of-
the-Month Club. Phil has simplified the mechanics greatly and
thinks it is a good game now. Has a lot of chance for
choice, but is not bogged down in a lot of detail work.
Bob Reiss had trouble dealing with Skor-Mor and, since
all their stuff was public domain, he is putting them out
himself, and will also add new games. If he is interested
in the concept of INFINITY, Phil and I will work on a brand
new mechanism.
He is still interested in getting me into conference with
Reiss on games. Probably after Stationery Show.
(cont. from 5/3) [5/4]
Hallmark is returning LIVE WIRE (my version) and wants to see the
simple version, LIVE WIRE - SUDDEN SHOCK. She told them
that she would get it to them next Tuesday. I'll bring it to her Tues-
day about noon.
When I go to Felicia's, she will show me WINDOWS. (She doesn't like it.)
Felicia got her report, 1st quarter, from 3M:-
ACQUIRE -------- $1,860.51
BAZAAR --------- 257.61
MONAD --------- 296.44
VENTURE ---------- 421.65
EXECUTIVE DECISION ---- .86
SEARCH --------- .00
$2,837.07
(My share) --- $2,127.97
There was no mention of foreign sales and Felicia wrote to the
accountant asking about them. (Were they included or not?)
She had a letter from Mary Hilt. She wants to hold CINEMA and
NOMINATION a while longer, until she can get enough people together
to play it. She likes the play of MARLBORO COUNTRY, but not the theme.
I'll send the rules of MATCHED SET to her, altho Felicia is
(cont. on 4/26)
