SATURDAY 1 MAY
Sts. Philip and James, Apostles 1971 121st day - 244 days to come
Rcd. an invite to a Gametime party on 5/17. Also sent me
catalog sheets for ENIGMA (similar to, but not identical to,
Steve Barkoczy's PENT HOUSE), PITFALLS (very
much like 3M's JATI puzzle), THE NINE OF SWORDS, and
SWITCHED-ON ESP.
Rcd. the game BUGS & LOOOPS. (It seems quite interesting.)
Called the 42nd St. Library to check on whether they have
DER SPIEGEL. They do, but April '70 thru Feb. '71 are being
bound at present and this can take months.
Played SLEUTH or rather BB, Helen, Bill (Marcy's), Annette,
Mike, and Si did. They got all screwed up in their
note keeping and finally gave up without finishing.
During day went over Lech's cassette, making notes:- Eugen Oker
mentioned an Austrian game STRATEGIE (STRATEGY). Also
MEM and Lech would like the rules. The article in DER SPIEGEL
that the best two games on the German market were
ACQUIRE and BAZAAR was called "Games for Adults."
He has a folder from Wff 'N Proof and would like TAC-TICKLE,
that is the rules.
Two books which he would like me to send if I think they are
interesting are - MATHEMATICAL PUZZLES by Geoffry Mott-Smith
and GEOMETRIC DISSECTIONS by "Lindgren."
He is sending me a packet with a Polish children's game - FISHING.
A copy of the Soviet book, PIONERSKAJA IGROTEKA
(GAMES FOR PIONEERS). Several PUZZLEs, based on LAP and on
PENTOMINOS.
He saw TRIMINO in Germany.
He likes HAAR HOOLIM PERCEPTION GAMES and what I did with
board in INTERPLAY.
His POLISH HOYLE should be out this year and he is working on
6 other books.
MAGELLAN is so complicated it is no longer a game.
PROPOGANDA - he heard from other sources that it is no good.
He definitely wants Abt's SERIOUS GAMES.
His SPIDER'S WEB has already been published and he hopes that
DOMINO BOARD GAME will be. He is working on THE TURNING GAME
and THE FEEDBACK GAME. He hasn't tried STRING PUZZLE GAME
with an actual model yet.
He will try my new rules for BAZAAR. Some of his mathematician
friends are fascinated with it as it is.
He wants the rules of my new game; particularly ODD OR EVEN,
TAKE FIVE, TEMPO, and EXECUTIVE DECISION.
He sent me the rules of HINDENBURG, a six-dice game. Some of the
scoring was missing.
He knows that he didn't answer all my questions, but they will
come later in writing.
