Sunday 25 April 1971
St. Mark, Evangelist
Second Sunday after Easter 115th day - 250 days to come
(cont. from 5/13) [5/17]
Gametime Party at Delmonico Hotel: Phil Orbanes. Gave him my
34 SKIDOO solutions. I'll go there Weds. morning to get other
material, from Reiss office.
John Anderson. Talked to him about his game KING HAMLET.
He will arranged with Phil for us and our wives to go to his apt.
to play. It is best for 5.
Carl Eisenberg asked me to call him at the end of next week
to arrange for him to come here and discuss ideas. He wanted
to meet Gini Scott and I introduced them. She said she'd show him
those games that Bob Hallowell has already seen. Carl
said that even if she shows him something and then Bob wants it,
he will defer to Bob. Gini mentioned a word GAME with 4
vertical boards into which letter cubes are placed. After each
play the boards are rotated 90 [degrees]. I mentioned SPELLBINDER.
Carl didn't want to look at it at first since all card word
games are the same but then, since it is mine, he said
he'd look at it.
Took Gini for coffee and cake. Gave her EXECUTIVE DECISION
and the S & T issue with the CONFRONTATION review.
CHECKPOINT has been dropped by Pressman. Their games are
not doing very well.
I asked her about CRAZY MAZE (see 1970). Just about every-
one has turned it down, so she let Hansen (?), who is mainly an
importer, put it out.
She asked when the CONFRONTATION review came out. She hasn't
rcd. any orders from it.
Bill Dohrman of Parker is how a member of IDEAS.
She has had some correspondence with Martin Gardner con-
cerning NITTY GRITTY. She asked me to ask him whether there
is more than one solution.
She has about 10 things on the market or ready to go. She
said she couldn't do complicated games like EXECUTIVE DECISION.
Rcd. calls at home from Felicia. Tried calling her back without
success. I'm to call tomorrow morning.
Claude called and wanted me to call back, but I was home too late.
Called Joyce Swayse at her hotel. Her GAME idea was based
on the idea of having a poster with a number of people on
it and considerable action. A letter is chosen, such as
D, and players list objects they can find starting with that
letter and also attitudes, such as "distracted", "distraught",
etc. I told her that she pretty well had it worked, but that
if I got any brainstorms I would let her know.
