MONDAY 22 MARCH 1971
81st day - 284 days to come
Wrote to Mary Hilt. Told her of work necessary on NOMINATION and
that I'd not be ready till Friday of this week, or next Monday.
Wrote to Tom Atwater about AIRLINE and TRANSFORMATION contracts.
Also that Mary doesn't want to see SPELLBINDER at present.
Called Felicia to tell her of my (2nd) letter from Mary Hilt. Agreed
that I'd have NOMINATION and CINEMA to her next Monday.
She told me that she had seen confidential reports on the sales
of 3M games and that ours didn't look very good in comparison
to some of the others. TWIXT and FACTS IN FIVE are doing
very well.
In her calls to retailers she found that [illegible crossout] the
Gamettes were not doing well. She did get some of them interested in
SLEUTH.
She was going to call Bill Caruson later in day to sound him out
on ESCAPE. He had mentioned that he would like to get first
look at things and she wants him to promise that he won't hold
things up interminably.
She'll also ask him about the status of WILD WOOD PILE. Also
BAZAAR. She'll tell him that someone else is interested. I told
her about my more adult variation and she'll mention it to him.
Since I'm not coming in tomorrow, she'll hold ESCAPE and the
revised version of TORTS - THE GAME OF LAWSUITS for me to see next Mon.
She has been consulting with some of the other people in I.S. a-
bout what would happen if something happens to help her. She asked if
I'd be willing to handle the game end for a salary. Yes.
Felicia called after a long telephone call to Bill Caruson. He
said they would be taking a cold look at their line and would weed
out whatever wasn't profitable. I asked if ACQUIRE was in danger.
She said no. But she didn't ask him about any specific games.
She didn't want to put any ideas in his mind.
IMAGE will be tested in the fall.
Bill is interested in ESCAPE and in KA-MA (the game
she mentioned on 3/15). (She wants me to look at KA-MA and
see if it is different from REINCARNATION.) But anything they
look at now will be for the end of '72 or later. But if
Felicia delays in showing it, it will be that much later.
However, he promised decisions within 6 weeks.
Bill didn't know what was happening with WILD WOOD PILE.
He didn't seem very interested in puzzles. He has never heard
about a 3-D game by me (PLANES).
Felicia asked him about BAZAAR and told him about Dick
Littlefield's idea of putting it in the Gamette line. Also that
we had a nibble on it. They are testing a new packaging into
which it might fit. It will be at least a year before it is de-
cided. He had already sent out a letter to her concerning
BAZAAR. He was interested in seeing my adult variation.
In talking about my games he did say that they had some-
thing the other games didn't - a third dimension. Felicia
