SATURDAY 6 MARCH 1971
Ember Day 65th day - 300 days to come
Rcd. Vol. 1, No. 2 of SOMA ADDICT.
Rcd. March PLAYTHINGS.
Phil brought me a CITY COLLEGE GAME, a spoof from
the college paper- "Observation Post."
Phil & Dale tried WILD WOOD PILE, without success.
In evening Miriam & Jerry Frederick tried
WILD WOOD PILE, also without success. BB stayed up
very late with it and also failed.
Mary Hilt called. Will meet tomorrow at 6 New York Hilton.
(cont. from 3/5) [3/4]
Pegs are placed on the board, which has a rim, and the pcs.
placed on the pegs. Presumably only one arrangement
will fit. As a game, players take a peg and a pc.
and place them. Last to place a pc. wins. (Tom will send
me rules.) (3M, Hallmark, Creative Playthings & Hank Simmons are
all interested.)
HOPPING-MAD-WAR - an improvement of WAR LORDS. (Tom will send
me rules.) (Creative Playthings is interested.)
TWIDDLY GOLF - Played a little. A golf tee, various shaped
greens with sand traps around them, trees. Different
holes are set up by different arrangements of the compon-
ents. A disc is shot with a device (actually a pick for a
Japanese instrument). Different materials of construction and
different methods of shooting give golf-like results. (3M
and Parker interested.)
HUE & CRY - A card game with a 36 card modified
standard deck. Tom had no details. (3M interested.)
MAD MATE - (3M is now very interested. Before this they
were not willing to pay a royalty but now that their CHESS set
in the book shelf packaging was a success that are.)
ROUND THE CLOCK - (No one is interested.)
GOOD KNIGHT - Tom said a contract was signed for this last
year but they can't decide what package to put it in.
Tom said that after Alex refused the reduction in royalty
and insisted on 5% on any future games, 3M wouldn't look at
his things for several years. Then they asked to see them a-
gain.
One reason that Alex is living in Japan is that he doesn't
have to pay income tax either here or there.
Tom also said he is sure that royalties on a patented game
are considered Capital Gains.
Tom told me about TIC-TAC-TOTAL (by Cambridge Games). There
are 9 - 3x3 layouts, forming a large 3x3 layout. On each of
the small layouts the four corner spaces are all the
same color (same color for all 9). The other 5 are 5 different
colors. A die has the 6 colors. 2 play and take turns
(cont. on 1/8)
