THURSDAY 4 MARCH 1971
63rd day - 302 days to come
Called Mike Alber and he called back. He is enthusiastic
about MASTERPIECE. He is not so sure about ORION.
It is not sure yet whether it will sell for $10 or $12, and
he doesn't think there will be a market for that high
a ticket. He'd like to see my collection & I invited him
on 3/18. He'll call to set the time - during day.
Rcd. a few calls from Tom Atwater. He was supposed to
come here but we finally arranged for me to go there in
the evening.
Rcd. a short call from Alex. He congratulated me on leaving
engineering. Was here with his wife and just didn't
have the time to get together.
Felicia called to discuss Fair. She thinks puzzles and think
games have about had it. Simple fun games and action
games are next she things. She is sorry she has TOTTER
tied up at Hallmark. I told her about BOUNDARY and that
it is not at all like LIVE WIRE. But it is good.
I mentioned that Dick Rosen was interested in my sub-
mitting games to him. She said they are in bad shape and
are not going anywhere and not to listen to his promises.
I said that that's why I told her about it.
She thinks that the Coca Cola GAME can also be sold
to a regular manufacturer; IMPACT doesn't mind. I don't
think there will be enough interest to a regular company.
The GAMEWAYS catalog came, together with a nice
letter from Earl Doherty.
To Statler-Hilton Hotel in evening for meeting with Tom
Atwater and Joyce A. Swasey, who together with another
gal owns a toy store in Acton, Mass. Called "Small Wonders."
Joyce is interested in manufacturing a series of
games like the childcraft or creative playthings. She likes
BAZAAR very much and would like to put it out
if 3M drops it. She would also like me to come up with
other GAMEs of a similar level, and which could re-
tail for from $3 to $5.
Joyce took us for supper and drinks in the "37th St.
Hideaway." (About $43.00 for the 3 of us.)
Tom showed me the following things by Alex - or told
me about them:-
STRETCH BLOCKS:- a construction set [drawing of triangular shape]
with wooden pcs. as shown. Rubber bands
are used in the grooves to keep them
together. They only stay in one plane, however.
BUFFALO (Tom will send me copy of rules.) - An uneven
game that teaches end-play of CHESS. (3M interested.)
DAISY CHAIN - same as TOUR (see '70) with new graphics.
