TUESDAY 23 FEBRUARY 1971
Shrove Tuesday
Mardi Gras (Ala., Fla., La.) 54th day - 311 days to come
Wrote to Edward Pomerantz (see 2/11).
Wrote to Conrad Schwarz (see 2/18).
Wrote to Pompadour Dominion sending $1 for a GAMEWAYS
catalog.
Wrote to Al Richter, about his game CRETE and giving him
Felicia's address and telephone number.
Thought of the idea of embossing the towers in
[drawing of rectangle, 2 rectangles, 3 rectangles, 4 rectangles] MANHATTAN MADNESS with markings
as shown and similar ones on the
ends. This could be done in the molding and would not re-
quire additional handling. The number of recesses would
correspond with the scoring in the game.
Jean, Bob Hallowell's new secretary called and had me call
Bob in a Manhattan Restaurant. He'll call me Thursday
morning and we'll arrange for me to bring him the model of
MANHATTAN MADNESS at Bob Reiss' showroom.
Just after BB finished typing my letter to her, Mary Hilt
called. She was concerned about the contracts for AIRLINE
and TRANSFORMATION. Told her that I hadn't rcd. the latter
and she remembered that she sent it to Tom Atwater. We discussed
the poor performance last year and she said that they would have
a much fuller line this year and the sales force would push harder.
We agreed that there would be no point in their staying
in business unless they could do better. I told her about the things
I didn't like about the new contract in comparison to the old one.
She asked me if I would sign if the contract was changed and I
said yes. I told her that I had been trying to contact Tom. She
will keep after him & iron out the contract with him.
One point in the contract - she believes that the intention of
the new Saxon management is to pay royalties monthly.
We made a date for her to visit on Sunday March 7. Probably
I'll drive down to the International Toy Show and drive her here.
She'll call when she gets in the day before.
(cont. from 2/24) [2/25]
ECLIPSE was returned by X; they said it was simply a matter
of trial and error.
We talked about Gini Scott and the games based on "women's lib." Urban
systems has one called WOMEN'S LIB. PSYCHOLOGY TODAY will be
coming out with one called MAN AND WOMAN. Felicia wants to know
about my meeting with Gini and I'll call tomorrow morning.
Felicia gave me a small Urban Systems folder with sheets for
their kits and games, including ECOLOGY.
I asked about IMPACT and GO SEE. It's still very much alive. I
told Felicia about my ideas for the Coca Cola GAME, cards
(cont. on 1/30)
