                                                SUNDAY 10 JANUARY
First Sunday after Epiphany 1971 10th day - 355 days to come
Wrote the rules for MANHATTAN MADNESS.
(cont. from 1/11) [1/12]
When talking with Carl Eisenberg he said that he had
just seen Dorothy Shapiro of Brentanos & she told
him that ACQUIRE and BAZAAR were the two best
selling 3M games. I questioned him about the latter
and he insisted that is what she told him.
Stopped at Gary & Riedel. They don't expect RECKON
until Toy Fair.
[started 1/12]
(cont. from 1/14) [3/3]
than a single game. When he gets back to New York he'll
arrange to visit me.
Entex:- (Not listed in directory but found them by accident.) Spoke
to Tony Clowes, the president. I believe he said he would
send me a copy of THE !@#C&*! GAME (different name than
given in PLAYTHINGS). (See catalog.)
He showed me GOTCHA, a cute action game where players
use a trigger to try and get their man to pin the opponent.
CONTROL!!! GAME:- a small care that runs from start to
5 turn tables in numerical order. Levers operate the turn-
tables (see catalog).
ELEVENTY SEVEN GAMES:- A set of interlocking blocks and
instructions for assembling them for use in more than
50 standard type games. (See catalog.)
To Parker Bros. looking for Mike Alber. Not there.
To Whitman. Didn't have FOCUS or FLINGERS on display. The
salesman didn't know anything about them. Saw COUNTERPOINT.
Quite dull. (See material in 1971 ad clips.) (They mention
DOWNFALL, STOCK MARKET, and KENTUCKY DERBY as their
other "adult strategy" games.)
To S&R. Said hello to secretary and told her I'd be there in
the next few weeks.
To Statler Hilton Hotel again and to 3M but they were closed.
To Mattel @ 2 Penn Plaza. Pat Madden, the Director of Market
Planning played part of a game of BOUNDARY with me. Then
gave me a copy. We discussed TURNING POINT and
MIRROR MANIA. They are dropping the latter. I asked him to
send it to me anyway for my collection and also the former.
He will but in case he forgets I should write to him
