WEDNESDAY 16 DECEMBER 1970
Ember Day
350th day - 15 days to come
Started my column for S&T #25.
Felicia [red dot] called. "Continental Airlines" is interested in GO SEE [red dot] but they want more competition. Jerry [red dot] sent 3 copies of their rules to Felicia and she is sending one to me and one to Ruth Shaler [red dot] so that we can work on it. They want it by the end of December.
"Impact" is also interested in two more GAME[red dot]s one on "See the U.S.A." and one on the Caribbean with a Pirate' Treasure.
She called again to ask whether she should tell Ruth about the two additional games. I said yes.
Felicia red. a $250 check from 3M, for PROFIT, although there was no letter with it.
Walter York-Koenigstein [red dot] called her. He has some strategy GAMEs which he may bring over the next week.
Rcd. a holiday card from Phil Orbanes[red dot].
Pete Swift [red dot] called. He has been playing TABLERO DE JESUS[red dot] according to our recent talks and he is finally very happy with the way it plays.
7, 11, 12 are all "Diablo". The opponent must call "Diablo" before the player moves or they don't count -- which keeps him alert.
After a "Diablo" a player may "wager" by putting 2 more coins than the longest group. Gets "redemption" by increasing a group to the number in the "wager". Can "wager" at 6 by putting 8; get "redemption" at 7.
After "redemption" a player may "wager" again but must leave the previous coins in place.
When a player completes a line of 7 he stops, but he gets a bonus of 3 coins.
There are no bonus spaces.
Pete hasn't seen Bob Reiss yet. He wants to get a sample ready before going to him. He is beginning to price material.
Played LIVE WIRE [red dot] with BB. At end she made a run for the objective spaces. I was able to cover one, but not both. Will try it with only one objected space, half way between the two starting spaces.
We played with the power acting like a wire for the other player. This made for some hard to see connections. Possibly I can have two variations, one allowing this and the other considering the power broken in the middle so that current can't pass all the way thru.
"Morris Berdick" called to tell me that LIFE [red dot] Magazine had a review of the game GHETTO[red dot]. I asked him to save it for me.
