THURSDAY 3 DECEMBER 1970
St. Francis Xavier 337th day - 28 days to come
Rcd. a letter from HAK (TICKER TAPE) telling me to take
care of my health as first priority.
Rcd. a check for $200 from the "Postrib Corp." for
my BOOK WORLD article.
Pete Swift called me again about TABLERO DE JESUS. He thought
of the idea of giving a 3 coin bonus for completing a
group of 7 but not allowing a player to continue.
In wagering he suggested the player placing two
more coins than his largest group. This then indicates
the number of coins in the group when it is purged.
With this rule we discussed the player removing the chips
as soon as he is purged (having won his wager).
Also we decided not to allow rewagering if only one
coin has been added to the group.
He also suggested a throw of 12 as "diablo" (which I
thought of yesterday. I told him about 12 and 11,
but got my odds wrong. When I realized this I
called him back, and also had another idea. Any
throw with a die that can't be used is a "diablo".
This would come into effect more as the group be-
come larger and would probably make getting a group
of 7 difficult enough to go back to allowing a player
to continue if he succeeds in doing so.
Pete didn't care much for my arrangement of bonus squares.
We discussed it and decided to eliminate the bonus as not really
adding anything to the game.
His artist friend is working on the board now but there is
plenty of time to finalize the rules.
Felicia called to find out if I had called Jerry Green
yesterday. I told her about my conversation. She said that
she had felt that FREE FORM didn't have enough to
it and that she'd rather not show it around.
X is asking her about LIVE WIRE and I promised to
have it done by the end of the year, even if I just
write up Rudy's original rules (but in this case I don't
want 50%). Felicia said to save my good ideas for my
own games.
Felicia rcd. a batch of material from "IMPACT" on their
game based on GO SEE. It is still very much
alive. (With which airline?)
She has a lot of games she would like me to
see but we'll wait with my coming down there to see
if she can contact Dorothy Shapiro of "Brentano's" and
set up a lunch appointment for the same day.
Tried to call Michael Dummett but no answer. He called after
11 and spoke to Dale. He'll come tomorrow morning at
