MONDAY 2 NOVEMBER 1970
All Souls' Day 306th day - 59 days to come
Letter from Don Miller concerning RITHMOMACHY,
THE GAMESMAN, THE GAMESLETTER, etc.
Called Martin Garner to get the reference to
RITHMOMACHY he penciled on the article I sent to Don
Miller.
It is another [crossout] article by Richards in
SCRIPTA MATHEMATICA: Vol. 9 - pgs. 87 to 99, pgs. 169 to 183,
pgs. 256 to 264. "A New Manuscript of a Rithmomachy."
(Martin doubts if any reprints would be available.)
Martin didn't have [crossout] anything new on games.
I thanked Martin for the recommendation to BOOK WORLD.
Call Eve Auchincloss [Anchincloss?] at BOOK WORLD and she'll send me
a few copies to look at the style. I'll try to have the
column to her by next Wednesday since she is going
to the hospital on Thursday.
She ordered AGOG but it hasn't reached her yet.
Felicia called. She had a letter from Jim Kraus. There
will be a delay in sending the PROFIT contract. They
have to make a presentation to management, but it is just
a formality.
He wondered whether in TORTS-THE GAME OF LAWSUITS
the game would drag for other players while two players
involved in a lawsuit. I don't think so, tho we only
played with 3.
Felicia had a letter from Bob Edwards asking about the
following games and I was able to fill her in on them:
OH PEG IT, GYRATION, SUCCESSION, TRIPLE JUNCTION
(I remembered getting a letter on this recently, spent
time looking for it and finally found it was a
telephone call.)
Felicia rcd. my letter to 3M on ACQUIRE. She likes the
way I write.
I suggested that since X is interested in 2-hand strategy
games, Claude had a good one - CURIOSA. She said to
have him bring it in to play with her.
Pete Swift called. He'll be here for lunch and to talk
about his ideas for publicizing his GAME, on 11/14.
(His home number if I had to contact him (914-CRI-8105).
Another call from Felicia.
Jerry Green of "The Puzzle Factory" called her. They
made a big success in jigsaw puzzles. Now they want
to move more into adult level games using their stationery
connections. They have two GAME subjects they would
like games on. "The Olympics" and "Starting a Small
Business."
They would rather not pay royalties, especially on things
(cont. on 11/3)
