WEDNESDAY 14 OCTOBER 1970
287th day - 78 days to come
Called Herb Roth. He still doesn't have glossies on
THE BLACKS AND WHITES GAME or a copy of
BYZANTIUM. I asked him to pass them on to Felicia
when he does. He agreed.
Tried to call Felicia. Not in and hung up before getting
the answering service.
To P.O. Mailed copies of AGOG to Herb Siegel
(unsigned, to be done when I go there) and
to Allen Taber (signed "To Allen, as an expert in games,
I hope you like these. Sincere regards...")
Mailed the second hand copy of NEW DEAL SOLITAIRE
to Pierre Berloquin. Found out there is a reduced
air mail rate for books and used it - $1.36.
In White Plains saw that "Macy's" had more ACQUIRE
than the other bookshelf. (Seemed to be a new supply
rather than results of being left.) They also seemed to
have started with 6 each of the Gamettes, 3 MONAD,
2 HIGH BID and 2 TRYCE were gone. At "Brentano's"
VENTURE seemed to be moving. At "Kluger's" and at
"F.A.O. Schwartz" in Eastchester there were none of my games.
Michael Dummett called to confirm date for tomorrow and
to say he would like to sleep over. Told him of
Dale having mono (which he wasn't familiar with),
but he is 45.
Called Jerry D'Arcey. No answer so I called Frank Thibault.
He has a lot of things he is working on
but nothing particularly promising.
He will send me a copy of CONTIGO - they are easy to
make & he has a couple on hand.
He was interested in subscribing to S & T and but I
told him to hold off for the present, unless he
is interested in war games. He isn't. Told him I'd
send copies of my column. Also told him I was
doing PLOY in the X'Mas issue.
He likes TROMINO GO and plays it with his kids.
"Samsonite" decided to put out AMOEBA in this country.
Their budget only allows for one new game and they
are not doing Jerry's COMMODITY. Jerry wants to get
it off the ground himself and Frank is trying to talk
him out of it.
Jerry thought that AMOEBA was like SQUIGGLE. I
told him how it was played - not the same at all.
Frank said there was one rule change in the
SQUIGGLE rules he sent me. I am not sure that I
have it correct, but I think he now allows a
