FRIDAY 18 SEPTEMBER 1970
Ember Day 261st day - 104 days to come
Rcd. the book MUDCRACK Y. Also a letter saying that they had sent
me a copy thru "Random House" (which I haven't rcd.).
The authors of this book would like to know how to get in touch
with 3M, having invented a number of games.
They are the authors of PSYCHE-PATHS. There are a lot more
games played with the tiles than in the rules "Funtastic"
published. And "NEO Press" may do a book on them.
Called Jim Kraus, collect:
Discussed all the questions on SEARCH [arrow] SLEUTH. I'll make
a new set of "Search" cards, the 54 card one, using small
size cards. Also I'll do the rules again to include the
new terminology. He'd like it in 2 weeks or less.
He has reports from about SEARCH from about 100 testers,
and all are positive.
I asked about PROFIT and Jim said they definitely want to
do it. They will try for next year, but may not be able to make
it. "Parker Brothers" had a game called PROFITS which Jim
said was out about 5 years ago (I couldn't find any trace of
it). "3M" asked "Parker" for permission to use the name
PROFIT and Parker granted it. ("3M" also asked permission to
use the name SEARCH ((see 9/15)) and didn't get it.)
In connection with the name SLEUTH, I brought up the point that
we should be sure to get across that it is a deductive game.
I mentioned the problem with BAZAAR and he agreed that a mis-
take was made. (This was just between us.)
Jim said that he really enjoyed playing EXECUTIVE DECISION
and thinks it will be another great one. I asked him to
remind Kathy to let me know that she rcd. my two letters.
Jim said that they were looking forward to seeing the
legal game (TORTS-THE GAME OF LAWSUITS). Keith Tuggle is an
vacation but will get back to Felicia in about 2 weeks.
I told Jim about someone wanting the new rules of VENTURE.
He'll send me a supply of them.
Felicia called. Steve Barkoczy will be in with more puzzles
about noon next Tuesday and Gary Sherbell wants to bring
in TORTS-THE GAME OF LAWSUITS about 4 on the same day
for us to play again. Told her I'd be there.
Told her that I'd like to know about the trip to Kansas
City so I could plan on my operation. She wanted to call right
away and ask them but I said to wait a while and see if
they call her. She'll hold off till next Tuesday. If she hasn't
heard from them by then she'll call.
