TUESDAY 15 SEPTEMBER
1970 258th day - 107 days to come
Rcd. a letter from Jim Kraus on SEARCH. The reason
that name can't be used is a "Career Interest
Determination Game" called SEARCH, published in 1958.
He likes the name SLEUTH.
He sent some rough sketches of the art work and
would like me to make up a deck. He has requested the
"U.S. Playing Card Co." to send me some blank cards but
is not sure that they will reach me in time. I can
call him to collect.
Started reading SIMULATION GAMES FOR THE SOCIAL STUDIES
CLASSROOM on the subway.
To "Hallmark Gallery" and spoke to Paul Huang who
was demonstrating DYNASTY. Business is not good and
he would like to be reviewed in S & T. I said that
I don't review games in S & T without playing them first.
He said that he had asked the factory to send me one
but would remind them. He gave me a "General Outline and
Teachers Guide" for DYNASTY.
Saw Olita, Jane Jordan's secretary. I asked her about
the "Interact" games - PANIC, DIG, etc. and she said
it would probably be O.K. to keep them indefinitely. If
Jane wants them back she'll call me.
The final demonstration - this Saturday and next
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will be the card
game BRIDGETTE.
To Pierce Promotions. Jack Davis showed me the pictures
taken at my demonstrations. Two were blown up to
send to St. Paul. I requested the same 2 for myself and
for Felicia. I also requested a set of contact prints if
possible.
Told Jack, later joined by Audrey, about my ex-
periences at "Hallmark," particularly the popularity of
BAZAAR. He will write a report to Bob MacCumber
who will probably bring the information to St. Paul ver-
bally and diplomatically. I asked Jack to call Felicia
and discuss it with her.
Tried a piling puzzle based on the new SPECTRUM idea
of allowing certain colors on top of others. Object was
to use a specific 32 pcs., all the same size, and pile
them into 4 piles of 8. It was much too easy. It
might work as a solitaire with the pcs. having to be
played in the order they come up.
[printed on page in red text: Third Payment Estimated Federal Income Tax Due.]
Called Steven Sondheim (who wrote the musical - Company). Got
his answering service. I think he called me later. After
